I was googling around and found an interesting article on how the USOC changed its rules and didn't let assistant coaches walk in the opening ceremony. Seemed like a dick move to me.
Anyway, the article was on a woman named Rose Monday who was denied her childhood dream. I was surprised to read the following about Monday: "That led to what happened a year ago, when she was named an assistant coach of the U.S. women's track team. She oversees everything from the 800 meters through the marathon."
I'm track and field obsessed and had never heard of her and she's the US Olympic women's distance coach. Does this mean I'm not of good as a fan as I thought?
The article states she used to coach at UTSA. I googled around and found out she apparently now coaches Maggie Vessey. Here are the past letsrun links I found on her.

Apparently, she helps run the Occidental meet:
Who knows more about her? It sounds like she ran the 800 herself. How fast was she?
I can't find anything about her own running.
