She coached at UTSA for a few years with no success and is now an Olympic Coach for Distance.
How'd that happen?

It starts and ends with Sue Humphrey.
Look at the Olympic staff list.
Someone USATF member should request the athlete evaluations on that crew. And from 2004 when Sue Humphrey was the head Olympic coach.
does an olympic coach even do anything?
Involvement with USATF athletes advisory...
No real coach cares about being part of the Olympic Staff. They have no respect from the athletes or the personal coaches. The are just there to carry bags.
I don't know Rose personally, but she was a very good 800m runner, served quite some time on Athlete's Advisory and has been very involved in politics of USATF on the national level. As a coach on the Olympic staff, you are primarily involved with taking care of the athletes, many who are actually incapable of functioning on their own. You also serve as the liaison between the IAAF/IOC reps and your team. Clearing track practice time, team prep, schedule changes etc. The managers are taking care of uniforms, travel, transport, etc
She found Sue's baggage still missing from 2004.
she coaches maggie vessey currently
I've met her, she is a phenomenally high class and nice person.
Assuming Maggie makes the team, she's the perfect coach for Maggie ;-).
Kidding, either way, Rose Monday is a wonderful woman.
Before people pass negative comments do your home work. Rose Monday is an exceptionally accomplished athlete, an amazing coach and organizer. She is very motivating, positive, hardworking and driven. At any high level meet even top athletes need a coach to help take the stress off, ensure that every thing runs smoothly so they can concentrate on their competition. Not every athlete can have thier individual coach right with them in the Olympic Village.
Rose Monday deserves her appointment as Olympic Coach, she earned it. What have all you detractors done to earn the right to post this drivvle?
I ran under several coaches in college. Coach Monday being one of them. As posted earlier, she as a person/coach she was very organized and structured. She also was motivating and help build the distance program at UTSA when times were thin.

Yep, she's a class act and a credit to the sport.
