I watched the whole opening ceremony out of respect for the olympics and because there are usually some pretty cool parts. This was just a terrible show, this was the chance for London to showcase for the world and they blew it. If it were entertaining to the Brits, then to me it sounds like it was like that skit in the HS talent show that is full of inside jokes and only entertaining to the people doing the skit and 3 of their friends. Industrial revolution, agrarian economy, a lost cell phone, mr. bean, is that the best you got?
They had no shot of topping Beijing, but you gotta at least do better than that. I kept waiting for Elton John to perform, instead we get Hey Jude (at least they tried there). In their defense, the end was better, but didn't make up for everything before the parade of nations.
Why choose 7 teenage athletes to light the olympic flame, it works better when it is a national hero, not some no name teenagers. They let Muhammad Ali touch the olympic flag, wonderful, Atlanta already had a deteriorating Ali light the flame and that was awesome. This was not awesome, this was forced and sad.
