NBC's Friday-night coverage of the opening ceremonies of the London Olympics drew the largest TV audience on record for a kickoff of the summer games.
According to Nielsen figures provided by NBC, 40.7 Million average viewers watched the four-hour-plus telecast outpacing the Atlanta game by 900,000 viewers while topping Beijing by 6 million and Athens by 15 million.

Imaginative, welcoming and also local--Danny Boyle and his caste did a great job--the small nod to Trainspotting with Born Slippery was an amusing little touch.

Why are people saying the bond thing was good? He didn't even say or do anything. It was just an "I know that guy" scene and it dragged on for like 5 minutes with some shots of corgis that looked like they were edited by an 8 year old on iMovie
