creese raced, Cheserek time trialed. And penn State runners fizzle out, probably from all their speed work and lack of strength. 3:58 today if the weather holds out

The "Kenyan Comet" has fallen to earth.
Thanks for those results.
Wow, great time by Montoya!
Is that the junior class record?
Lots of depth in that field.
I wonder what happened to Nowak.

The junior class record is 3:59.0

Long season. The Texas state meet was 4 weeks ago so he was running on the fumes of his peak.

I'm pretty sure that's definitely not the case for a high school mile race.

Ryun. He was good.

I'm pretty sure that is not what you said.
And I'm pretty sure no one cares what the record is for the junior-high-schoolers-only-mile race
The Arizona state meet was 4 weeks ago as well. You don't see Montoya making excuses, he just brings his A game.

Bernie Montoya for the win. Comes from near back of pack to close last lap in 52.
OK, the 52 was wrong but the general idea was correct - coming on hard on the last lap from way back in the pack to take the win. Always races this way. Gutsy. And just a junior. Go Bernie!
ha, see cheserek's start in that race. whoops! cost him maybe a second or so, big when he was trying to break 4.

So you're saying a 4:01/1:49 guy doesn't have sub 50 second speed? Lemme tell you something, I know teenage distance runners that can hit 51 in the open 400 that have mile/800 PR's nowhere close to Cheserek's. At the slowest, he runs 48 high on an all out effort.
However, I agree with you on the statement about Webb. He may have been the most ranged, most talented mid-d runner to have ever lived. His range in 2007 was just amazing.. 27:2x as a workout? 3:46 AR as a solo TT effort where he had no one to push him?
Are you stupid? This guy has absolutely not sub 50 speed for 400m. What he has in the mile is COMPLETELY irrellevant. It means nothing. As for the 800, maaaaaany sloooooow runners with good endurance have 1.49.
Jeezes, learn something.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
