I completely agree. I am one of those intellectually gifted runners like yourself.
Running helps your stamina on a test while being smart helps you to work out your splits mid race.
It's not just a correlation between running and smarts. It is pure causation. You're really smart.
Since you replied to an interesting question with irreverence, I'll throw out some arguments in support of the op.
There is evidence that aerobic exercise leads to adult neurogenesis - perhaps being a better runner actually makes you smarter. As for the other way around (being smarter leading to one becoming a better runner) the factors other than innate cognitive abilities that lead one to appear (or actually to be) more intelligent, such as a stong work ethic, patience, and a drive to succeed, are also traits that may result in a person becoming a better runner.
