I love running. I've only been in the sport for the past year and a half, but I'm trying to get better and I love learning about the sport. I'm going to be a senior in high school this next year, and I'm really planning on putting in the miles this summer. Our team is pretty good. I didn't make varsity last year (my first year), but with the right training I think I have a decent shot at varsity.
That's where XC camp comes in. I really want to go. I think it will be a chance to see what kind of shape I'm in midsummer, and I think it would be really helpful to hear what some college athletes and coaches have to say.
My dad, however, does not really support my running. He doesn't say much about it. He barely ever comes to my races, and when he does its only because my mom makes him. He never tells me good job or anything. He doesn't understand it and thinks its not a real sport because "anyone can just go out there and run around all day".
So when I said I wanted to go to XC camp, he said that he had already signed me up for military camp in Florida the same week. I dont' even know what military camp is and don't want to be a soldier at all! What can I say to get him to change his mind?? I want to run, not do drills and learn to march! My mom won't stand up to my dad. She never does. So that's not an option.
thanks
