Tariku ran 27:11 in conditions in which Ritz ran 27:50. So, he was 39 seconds ahead of a 27:22 runner who just ran 13:14. It is hard not to put Tariku in the 26:40s category this year. Rupp will be there with a lap to go in all likelihood at the Olympics in both races, but the question is whether he will have the ability to go sub 54 at that point and whether he will be in the right position when the leaders go for it. Teg was a little out of position and a lean short of bronze at 5000m. It is also obvious that beating Lagat and Farah is highly unlikely for him. He is in very impressive shape right now and a definite contender but we haven't seen him yet hammer that last lap in a relatively fast race.

I think the Olympic 10 will be in the low 27 range. The leaders will wind up with a mile to go. The last 800 may go in 1:52 with a last lap of 53. Perhaps 5 runners will be close with 400 to go, but just 2 will be left in the stretch. I hope Farah can take it. For Rupp I hope he can medal. I wish him the best.
