the 2nd heat jogged the first few 1100 meters as they ALL think they have the best kick ever, like every other 1500 guy that has come before. So with a lap to go Masters was trying to get off the inside rail and got caught up and went down on the rail. There was a lot of pushing and he basically forced the Wisc guy to stop completely. It was sort of an amazing scene. i am pretty sure the Wisc guy pushed masters to the ground to get him out of his way after the fall and Masters was trying to get up.
Not sure i agree with the ruling and protest outcomes but I saw it live and without the luxury of replay.
Seriously, if the first lap is over 65 then there should be no more DQ rules.
The guys have let themselves become bunched up and should have to go with what they gave themselves instead of whining about it.
Thx. Happens when no one is willing to take it out. Will wait to watch the video.
actually a VERY good point. kinda like the "10run mercy rule" or something like that. anything slower than 1:0x for 400, 2:0x for 800= no dq's, anything goes. i would totally support that, would def force ppl to be aware of that as ppl wouldn NOT want the resulting anarchy that would/could happen from a slow pace. ah, we can all dream eh?
He tried to TRANSFER to an outside lane, but the NCAA denied his request this time.
The solution is very simple.
Have all qualifying by time, not by places.
This is the way it is done in swimming and other sports.

I like this more than the "anything goes" rule suggested above.
In swimming, they are in lanes the whole way, there is not wind, and temperature is strictly controlled. Do you want to see the 1500 run in lanes, seriously? Of course, it would also have to be run indoors to control the wind and temp.
