Alright so I am a Freshman in highschool and I cant seem to run as fast as i think i can/should. The last week of January I ran a 509, 1600m indoors off of just base training and some strides. (About 35-40MPW) and so far after my 3rd 1600m of the season my PR is only 502. Should I only improve 7 seconds in a season with all the workouts and everything? Im feeling really frustrated because i havent had any consistency and im losing to guys ive never lost to before (In XC and last year) and i know ive worked harder then them over the winter. There are guys i beat in XC by 15 seconds that are running 452. Im not sure whats wrong, please give me some suggestions. Do i choke in races? Is it a mental game im playing on myself?
