any one know Webb's splits, from either race?
theres a video of his races last night
Video's taken down for some reason but they are back up here.
Gap was 60 minutes between races.
60 second last lap in the 5000.
Looked like if he had been pushed he could have been closer to 14 flat.
the guy recording the video said 9:52 with 4 laps to go...so a ~4:23 last 1600
looks like he's getting into shape.
13:45/3:35/1:47 shape this year easily.
If he's serious this time 3:33 in Europe. Olympic finals? That may be a bit of a stretch.
1st things first , trials qualifier for 1500 , 5k and at a stretch 10k.
My guess is he play his cards out to see what feels the best as we get closer in the trials. Vig will know where he see's him having his best shot at the team.
Say he doesn't make the team , he could have a Oly games pressure free summer of quality racing.
Side note , he just missed b-standard for trials @ 3:43 flat , a- standard 3:39.
5k b- 13:50 , a -13:33 , 10k b- 29:00 , a- 28:15
Hes not far off...
OK, Webb was fast in High School. He's run 1:43 and that is B-A-D! 3:46 mile, amazing. He beat that French stud in a fast 1500 race (not that is cool, a big international win!). Still, I just don't get the intense devotion of the Webb heads.
Or maybe I do, I am a huge fan of Jerry Garcia and I recognize that there is no way you can transmit the buzz to anyone else -- they either get it, or they don't.
Somebody needs to track down Webb and get a proper interview done.
Even just a 5 minute interview he can tell us how his training is going and what he's expecting to do this Summer.
Then we can all sleep easy at night!
seriously? shattered jim ryun's hs record, as a pro ran 1:43/3:30/3:46/13:10/27:34 and took some big races with monster kicks and brought the excitement with the primal scream and the flexing. very entertaining stuff in his heyday.
he just doesn't look like a true distance runner anymore. looking at his stride in the 1500, he doesn't look like much of a distance runner.
there is just something akward about him when viewed with the people around him. i guess its the bulkiness. he doesn't have a lean ectomorphic runner's build like Ritz and Rupp for example.
he looks more like someone who would do well in rugby
What do you mean "anymore"? He has ALWAYS run like that. Like every muscle on his body is contracting simultaneously with every stride.

Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
