I hate the people in power in this country. So many of you people are self-righteous pricks; even the folks trying to act "enlightened" by pushing the issue of race onto poverty are terrible.
The poster who got it closest was msr, who talked about the commodification of human rights and the consumption of labor. The bottom line is that you cannot simplify a person into the race or their class.
Most (all?) people are a product of their circumstances, this shapes who you are. Most people are fundamentally good, but when they are socially isolated (like in this country), they make terrible assumptions about others. These assumptions lead to terrible circumstances and actions; whether it be the abandonment of social norms in the ghetto leading to murder and drug dealing, or whether it be the abandonment of social norms in the corporate world leading to lying, cheating, and exploitation.
Racism is a product of the circumstance our society is in, not the people. And until we realize this, and remedying the circumstances, we will never come close to removing any sort of prejudice or racism.
