In fairness, it's hot as hell here. But he was not pleased with that effort.

This is a good stream. Broadcast seems well done. Thanks!
Oh, I see the problem here. They mixed up the times for Alan Webb and Sharif Webb. Sharif ran the 1:54.17, and Alan actually went 1:48.52. Not bad for an opener, he may be back!
Har har.

78 degrees is not hot, especially when it was 90 earlier this week. This the coolest day we've had in weeks in Gainesville. Now it is a little windy.

if webb is coming in 32nd overall in a meet like this, there is no way he'll get top 3 at the olympic trials

You have great hindsight!
He looked good through about 550 and then the fade was on

It's a 2 minute race. High 70s sounds close to ideal.

Do you think Webby's wife is thinking about divorcing him?
I mean I have to believe that Webb must have talked a good talked to his future wife. I am sure he told her that his hair was "real" and he was going to be the next gold metalist and be on all the cereal boxes and have a load of cash to spend and travel..blah, blah..
But now... empty pockets and empty dreams, I am sure his wife is working on an exit strategy.
Poor Alan

the next gold metalist [/quote]
He still may be the next or maybe even the first gold metalist ever.
I don't know who said it was high 70s, because it's much warmer than that. It was high 80s on the track, and a warm wind.

who cares? he ran 1:54 for 32nd place.
the end.
The heat obviously affected the 31 runners that had faster 800s.
"On May 17, Webb would produce a startling triple at his district meet, winning the 1,600 in 4:06.74—with the second 800 in 1:52—the 400 in 49.29 and the 800 in a personal best 1:49-53, all within 80 minutes." 11 years ago
It has to be frustrating, his body or his mind isn't where it used to be. I hope he saved his money well and has a plan for life after running.
