You guys clamoring for the 5% rule are dumb.
Drinking coors light, bud light, guiness, bud, pbr, etc should be just fine.
You go to the store, you buy a 100 beers and you do the challenge.
Why 5%? Why not 6%.
It's already been explained. Here are the reasons:
(1) 5% is a requirement for an "official" beer mile according to beermile.com. Therefore, people have gradually begun to accept this standard for other drinking competitions too.
(2) We gave Fast Guy a hard time about this so he went back and did it with 5% beer. He is the WR holder right now, you gotta go along with his rules.
(3) Alcohol content matters. Bud light is 4.2%. 100 of those only has the same alcohol content as 84 beers at 5%. The reality is (as you like to say), 100 bud lights is much easier than 100 bud heavys.
(4) Anyone who tries this with less than 5% will be heckled here on letsrun.com. Why bother? Just go with 5% to shut us all up.
The truth is there is no authority on this. Beermile.com, Fast Guy, and myself can't force anyone to do anything. It is kind of majority rules (or maybe the most vocal rules?) I'm here whining about 5% and others will too. If we're going to compare performances we should have some consistency.
By the way, to above poster, I hope it is clear by now that we are not picking on SS. In fact I don't think anyone has directed a post at her in two pages. Clearly we are people just arguing about rules for silly competitions.
