damn, was way off in my call. symmonds way back in6th is 1:47 mid. asbel takes it in 1:45 high (i didnt give nearly enough credit to asbel as i shouldve) and riley in second in 1:46 low. symmonds did tweet before the race that his pre race workout didnt go as he had hoped but on the bright side this is his first race of the year and can be treated as a rustbuster.
kiprop has already had 2 (i believe) races under his belt so he's gotten most of the rust out of his system and is in good shape right now. symmonds opened up here last year with a 1500 in somehwere around 3:4x, treated that as his rust buster. when he ran in melbourne 2ish week after he ran 1:45 in a race with rudisha so im going to go out on a bit of a limb and say that this 800 was his rust buster but a good one and that if he does melbourne again then he'll be in 1:46 mid shape by then, 1:45 high shape at best.
i'd say symmonds is right on the same schedule as last year, just different race wise. kiprop is clearly fit and showing some good opening speed. risely is in shape as of now but will he hold up till the summer or will this be another "year of the early season wins?"
