This has to be put in perspective. How does Tebow compare to all other rookie QBs over the years. Elway, Brady, Rodgers, Brees - none of these were outstanding their rookie year, especially big mouth Elway. We need to give Tebow another couple of years to see how he does.
Having said that, his tossses today were magnificent. Give a lot of credit to his receivers.
And, yes, his team mates really like him. He has no pretense and, BTW, I am not a Denver fan.
josh Freeman of the Tampa Bay Bucs hit the sophomore slump this year after an outstanding rookie year. Tebow might do the opposite.
It's only a game but I love it.
Answer: not much worse statistically than Vick or Cunningham during their first years as starters. Doubtful Tebo will ever develop into a true passer, but he should at least become good enough to qualify as an average to slightly sub average passer... but given his running abilities, that might be enough to remain a starter until his body wears down (maybe 6 or 7 years?).
(1) he's not a rookie and
(2) cam newtown
do you even watch nfl games?

This is his sophomore season. He did the opposite.
Great game last night.
No other QB threw for more yards against the Steelers D this year, so not too shabby.
Clutch play action to end it.
Of course if McGahee didn't put it on the ground or Bailey picked it in the end zone we wouldn't be talking about the winner's winner.

Tebow is not a rookie, drafted in 2010. I get your point that this is the first time he was considered the starting quarterback. If you look at Brady's first season starting the level is set at win a superbowl. I think Rodgers went 5-11 or something terrible but quickly started to dominate after that. Tebow is a great story, but I am still not sold on him even after last night. Of his wins, 5 of them are overtime. Which is to say he is clutch player who plays best when it counts the most, but also says teams hang around a lot with him as the starting QB. Maybe he can continue this his whole career but historically it doesn't happen. He really needs to work on putting teams away earlier so coin tosses and long field goals aren't part of his keys to victory. The only thing that matters is the scoreboard, so this season it has worked out perfectly and I hope it continues against the patriots, but don't think it will.
My 2 cents on Tebow.
i don't think that tebow or the broncos really care that some random person on the internet isn't "sold" on tebow. he has been nothing short of a goldmine for the team. the pats game this weekend likely will be one of the highest rated non super bowl sporting events of all time.
Of course they wouldn't care. What of it? If this board were limited to only the posts people whose opinions the Broncos (or any subject discussed) cared about, there wouldn't be any posts at all.
Never heard of Newtown, I know who Newton (Panthers) is. This is Tebow's first year as a starter so he is in fact a rookie. And I probably know more about pro football......oh never mind since neither of us cares what the other knows or thinks.
I really hope he has a bad game next week. Go Pats.
Big Ben the rapist vs. Tim Tebow the Son of God..... Of course Tebow wins!
But--
In the Lions/Saints game, the Saints never punted. The Lions NEVER stopped the Saints. Not once, in the whole game (two fumbles, which the Saints did themselves).
Can ANYONE stop Drew Brees?

It doesn't matter if it is his first year as a starter....by the definition of a rookie. HE IS NOT A ROOKIE.
Get over it man.
The Broncos won the division. Then Tebow had a 125.6 passer rating against the #1 defense in the National Football League to lead his team to a playoff victory. Yeah, dude sucks.
Personally, I don't agree with all this talk about how Tebow should switch to TE or FB. Sure, his passing mechanics are pretty poor compared to most starting-caliber NFL quarterbacks, and he completes less than half his passes on average. But this dude is a LEADER. His teammates love him, and believe in him. The city of Denver believes in him. Tebow is the kind of guy who can inspire great confidence in his teammates, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds - not to mention unquenchable competitive fire. And those are invaluable qualities for the leader of your offense to have. Add to that the fact that he can run the shit out of the football if need be, and you have yourself a guy who can win football games.
A lot of people say that the Denver defense is the reason the Broncos are winning, and it's true that they have really helped Tebow out. But don't underestimate the impact Tebow has had on the motivations of that defense. They know that if they can give Tebow a chance, he can make something out of nothing and pull off a jaw-dropper.

Not bad?
He plays hot and cold, and right now he's pretty darn hot.
He's cold periods are much frostier than any other NFL QB

The guy totally sucks.
Less than 50% completion rate on one of his good games?
Let's be honest. Thia guy is not an NFL caliber QB
One thing is for sure about Tebow - he has invigorated the league this year with the discussion he has generated alone. There's this whole Tebow subplot playing out and whether you love him or hate him, it is great entertainment.

Do people say things like this about guys like Flacco or Sanchez? Because I never hear it. Both guys are lucky to be abvove 50% completion in any game, they often throw stupid INTs yet they win and have done pretty well in the playoffs. But you never hear the criticism on them like there is on Tebow.
so ya, Jefferson of LSU had an 85% completion rate in the first half. Yep thats right. I mean the team ony had 40 yards but hell his completion rate was awesome. BEST STAT EVER!!!!!
