Albeit a very smart sellout. You are an idiot if you don't think Dunbar is going to benefit exponentially from this decision. Who the heck would rather run for the Portland Pilots than Oregon. Come off it.

Oregon was barley top 8 in the region. Portland was top 8 at nationals. I'd rather run for Portland.

Cagel, do your homework. UofO is a state school, while UP is a private, Jesuit school.
Just to clarify, UP is a private Catholic school, but not run by the Jesuits. UP is a Holy Orders school.
That was with Dunbar. Put Dunbar on Oregon and Regionals would've gone differently. What will they do in track? I would wager not very much comparably to Oregon. Also, Oregon has a very young team, that had all the potential to make nationals, until that joke Lukas decided to leave. No one knows how Oregon would've finished at nationals. I can see where you are coming from but long term it makes more sense to run for Oregon if you want a better chance to succeed at U.S. champs, worlds, oylmpics.
You people get way too worked up about silly stuff that you have no power over. Get a life.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.
Dunbar is going to figure that out very quick in Eugene.

I googled Hayward Field and the grass looks green to me:
http://tinyurl.com/7gqvsbhTried to find an image of the Portland track but can't seem to find one.
All tracks are 400 meters around.

I bet you $10,000 you can't find a picture of the UP track
Why is there so much crying over his transfer. Wisconsin and OSU got top level transfers. This also happens in Football too. Oregon did not cry when their Star Football recruit Seastrunk left for Baylor.
Face it, this happens all the time.
Again, why then is Jager not a "sellout" for leaving Wisconsin? Same logic right?
his coach left

Simply because he transferred to Oregon. No other reason for the crying.

The hell they are.
Trevor made the correct decision in transferring to U of O. Now he will have the opportunity to train with so many more top notch athletes compared to U of P where there were maybe three or four guys.
The atmosphere in Eugene is one of a kind and if Trevor can find his grove many posters here will change their minds on Dunbar being a "sellout". He is a good kid with a lot of potential.
Dunbar doesn't owe an apology to anyone. UO's cross and track roster has so much more talent than the Pilots have. That's not a knock against the Pilots, I respect their team and what they're about...but if you want to be elite, sometimes you have to put the feelings of others behind you so you can make decisions that might give you better odds of reaching your goals. I'm sure Dunbar wants to be surrounded by more talent and have the exposure to the pro system. The Pilots don't even have a real track program and XC doesn't really mean squat once you're out of college.
Obviously Dunbar doesn't feel satisfied with where he is at in Portland and has every right to do what he feels is best for the short term and long term career.
Unfortunately Andy Powell s headed to UVA and Vin doesn't do any of the person to person coaching unless you are like Wheating or Hasay,
Powell is not leaving. He is at one of the easiest institutions in the country to recruit to, Has no duties except managing/coaching stud distance runners, unlimited resources, and makes well over 100k/year (which is more than only about 15 head coaches in the NCAA, the vast majority of which are directors who have a ton of administrative, bs duties to do ahead of actual coaching!)
Why on earth would he leave that gig?
Can't imagine him leaving. The only way he leaves if both he and his wife split the mens/womens at UVA. Which I heard is the case....but I heard that on here so that means squat. Seriously though, with Vin leaving sometime in the next few years (presumably) how do you not stick around for the Oregon job?
You've got to think Powell would only leave if it was for Stanford - and even that is a maybe I'd guess.
Actually, I'd rate Dunbar as a buy.
Over and out, Chief.
The kid has potential to go somewhere and his college isnt going to take him there. U of Oregon is by far the greatest place for a kid like Dunbar to go in order to achieve his goals. I support his decision, his goals, his dreams. When this kid strives to represent the USA at the Olympics we wont even be having this conversation. We will be supporting him. You go kid.....btw...no relation, but very cool last name :-)
