I bought my first pair of New Balance 905's this spring and I love them but now the're discontinued. Anybody know where online (or if you live in NYC) I can find them?

It got replaced by the 1190. I liked the 904 and 905 too, but I haven't tried these because they just cost too much.
The 1190's that replaced them are really nothing like the 905's. I really liked the 905's as well. I'd try the Lunar Elite or the Mizuno Elixar, you're likely out of luck for finding 905's.
Saucony Mirage FTW
I just bought some from Joe's New Balance Outlet, hope I didn't grab your size.

You can still find them around the web if you have small feet.
I don't see the 1190s on that Joe's page.
And do their mnumber sequences ever make sense? 903, 904,905, then becomes 1190...? I can never figure NB out, and I'm a fan of their shoes.
the reason the numbering is weird is because NB decided to switch up their numbering system to make it more sensible, which it is now. i would give the NB 870 a try.
Try the Zoom Structure Triax+ 14 -- more Olympic & world championship medalists and NCAA champions wear that model, along with track stars from the capital of American track & field, Los Angeles County
The 905s were on the Joe's page. The 870 seems to be the most similar to the 905. I tried on the 1190 and it felt like a completely different shoe, while the 870 had some of the same feel, just a much wider base; the fit was still pretty good around my foot though. I literally have stacks on 904s and 905s at home because I love the shoe...don't know what I plan to do when I run out. DS Trainer from Asics is probably the most similar.
I did have stacks of 904's and I just ran out. The uppers didn't last long. That is a good tip with the 870. It looks like it is worth a try. The DS trainer looks like it should be similar, but I always felts that it was really clunky. The 904 just felt firm in the arch, but the DS trainer feels like a brick to me and I can't wear it without getting problems anymore. I did really like it at some point though.
