I have done enough runs in racing flats, such as the Piranhas or Hyperspeeds, that rotating between a traditional neutral trainer and something as minimal as the Piranhas is too big of a jump. I feel that I can do a large chunk of mileage in Hyperspeeds, but they are too firm for me at this stage to do too many consecutive days of higher mileage without my feet feeling it.
The Kinvara and the Nike Lunaracer+ seem like a good option to keep a lightweigh, low heel-toe ratio, yet with enough cushioning for longer runs or recovery days.
However, I won't be able to get to a running store for quite a while. I've heard from some comments that the Kinvara is too soft or mushy. How true is this and how concerned should I be if I plan on doing long runs in a shoe that is too soft.
For the Lunaracers, from what I hear, the cushioning sounds about perfect what I am looking for, but I'm concerned with the narrowness of the shoe. However, my feet are more narrow than the average person. Of course, Kinvara is less expensive, so I'd rather go with that if it fits my needs.
