Good news for the Footlocker race and bad news for the Nike people: Edward Cheserek of St. Benedict's Prep in New Jersey, the best high school runner in America, has chosen to run in the Footlocker race over NXN.

Nike is going to learn soon that nobody really wants to race in a swamp. Footlocker offers a great course, in a great setting, with usually ideal racing weather. NXN offers cold weather, a muddy course, and a team centric event which really places the individuals 2nd in importance. One should be teams, one meet should be individuals.
agreed with above. the only ones that should make the tough decision are those on nationally rated teams.
I will give you the nice setting (coronado), but the footlocker course in San Diego is not a beautiful course, it is not really a cross country course.
Racing xc in cold weather with some mud is real xc. Also, are you serious when you say Nike focuses on the TEAM aspect more than the individual? That is what it should be about, the last thing we need is to create more prima- donas like the NBA or NFL. Like ther aren't enough selfish little spoiled brats out there already.

Ever run on the wood chip path through the Eucalyptus grove on the Foot Locker course on a sunny, cool San Diego morning? Maybe you have a different definition of beauty, but for me, it was awesome.

I love the whole Footlocker experience, been there a couple times and would much rather travel to San Diego in December than Portland. However, the Morley course is California xc , not real xc. Several road crossings, multiple figure eight type loops, around the pool, the big downhill adjacent to a road. It's fun to watch and not bad to run but for those of us who have experienced xc outside of California, it's pretty sterile.
