1) Didn't Sell work at Home Depot, hence the occassional reference? I have never heard sub elites referred to as blue collar, how does that even make sense? How is that they are working harder than elites?
2) Never heard this one either. What if they work at an investment bank or are a med student/intern (Kempanien) is that blue collar? How does that make sense?
3) I'll buy that. I think Jonesy would qualify as a RAF mechanic I think by day, world record holder on weekends.
"Blue collar", "working people" and "working class" are stupid terms that have little basis in reality these days. As I was busting my ass between appointments this morning on 53rd St, I passed dozens of NYC police officers (UN week in NYC), dozens of construction workers, loading dock workers, building workers, all of them unionized, well-paid, job-secured "working people". Not one of them was actually doing anything useful or productive.

Nope. Not at all. Never ever.
The ultimate blue collar runner? Haile Gebrselassie.
Hear me out:
1) Whatever his perceived talent may be, he has outperformed it.
2) Geb was working full time and had a wife and four kids when he set the marathon world record (both times).
3) When he started out, he was a dirt farmer.
