Did a 6 mile "anaerobic threshold" run today with the team. Coach told us before hand that it's not supposed to be too fast, but then he gave us a pace to hit that was almost as fast as our 5th guy's 8k race pace, and there's only about 40 seconds between our number one guy and number 5. I'm number 3-4 depending on the day. Anyway, we start out guns blazing and things only get more intense as the workout goes. I felt like I was racing just without going completely balls out the last two miles. Our fifth guy finished about 10 seconds behind us and was wobbly afterwards he ran so hard, and I could tell even our number 1 guy wasn't exactly relaxed at all the whole time. Coach encouraged us and told us to keep it up! How do I run a true threshold workout (probably 15-20seconds slower PER MILE than today) without getting in trouble? Coach wants the top five to train together all the time, but hell, I'm going to be injured or burned out in a month if we keep doing this stuff.
