Supporters of Kersch Ray’s family may now show their support with donations to the family through Chelsea State Bank, according to a Facebook page called "Prayers for Kersch.”
Kersch, a 13-year-old Chelsea High School freshman, was struck by a car near Old U.S. 12 and Freer Road during an early morning cross country practice on Sept. 2. He suffered two broken legs, a broken elbow and a closed-head injury. A second student was also struck by the vehicle, whose driver has not been identified. That student was treated and released, according to Chelsea High School Principal Julie Deppner.
Kersch remains in critical but stable condition at the University of Michigan Trauma Center after surgery to both his legs and skull, according to the Prayers for Kersch page.
Those looking to help the family in their time of need may give a donation to the Medical Fund for Kersch Ray at either the 305 S. Main St. or 1010 S. Main St. Chelsea State Bank locations in Chelsea.
Both the Chelsea Police and the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office are continuing to investigate the incident. More details will be provided as they are made available.
