I have noticed that the cushioning in the forefoot of my shoes (especially under the balls of feet) gets crushed very quickly, i.e. after only a week or two of use. I have settled on Mizuno Precisions the last couple years. Like most shoes they use EVA, which I gather sucks in terms of longevity. I just keep running in them since I mostly run on grass/dirt anyway. I run about 60-70 mpw and weigh about 130 lbs.
But my question is, are there other shoes with more durable cushioning? In particular, what about Brooks with their 'DNA,' and ASICS with their gel inserts? Would either of these provide better longevity? Also I recently read a review of the Keen A86 which uses PU (polyurethane?)instead of EVA. Anyone know how that holds up? I like the Mizunos, but in the back of my mind always wonder if there is not something better out there.
