You can’t say “never” after last night’s self-fisting photo of you.

SATURDAY, August 1, 2020:
RUNNING: 5 miles, slow and untimed on the track, 77 F., sunny.
It was hard and tiring and I had to work on my breathing the whole time, so as to breathe rhythmically and not just pant, but I could have gone farther.
I feel like I’m not progressing the way I would like to, but if I look back a month or especially two months, I have to say I am making progress. The right hamstring is worse than it was, though, which means I can’t run fast.
My current idea is to keep running slowly, and continue my stretching and strengthening routines, and see if the hamstring gets better. If not, I may need to get more aggressive, and try ART massage, and maybe explore other options that may present themselves.
Right now, I feel it’s too early to get professional intervention, since I can still try improving matters myself, simply by continuing to do all the things I am doing.
Happy August, everyone! -

After doing some web research, there seem to be quite a few hamstring exercises that I'm not doing and probably should be doing. Unfortunately some of them require access to a gym. Currently I'm hoping to get back to my gym, Planet Fitness, by January 1. But we'll see how things look as time passes. -

Part of me thinks, "This is bullsh*t. Why do I have to do all this extra work just so I can run a few miles? Young people don't have to do this." But the obvious answer is, "Because I'm not a young person." Much as I hate to admit it. -
It only gets better.😜

I am plotting my strategy for age 70 masters domination.
On August 30, I'll turn 62. I am not plotting masters domination, just hoping to race again sometime next year.
That said, I want to run the fastest times my sorry @$$ can manage, given my age and decrepitude.
Today I was looking online at the Nike Vaporfly 4%. I'm certainly not going to buy any new shoes, let alone drop a bundle on the Vaporfly, until a) races are back on; and b) I can run without hamstring limitations and other health issues that force me to dial back the speed.
So it's not at all clear, when or if I might be racing again.
It's also not clear to me what the 4% really means. Somewhere I read it could actually reduce your time by 4%; elsewhere I have read it's not that simple.
If the Vaporfly could really reduce my times by 4%, that would be huge. That means a 25:00 5K becomes a 24:00 5K. But that sounds like magic, and I don't think the shoe could really do that.
Anyone know anything about this shoe, or other shoes like it? What kind of boost, if any, could a high-tech shoe give to a poor schlub whose highest ambition is to run a local 5K again someday? -
Loving my music when I work out on the back porch.
Just cranked "The Low Spark of High-Heeled Boys":
If I gave you everything that I owned and asked for nothing in return
Would you do the same for me as I would for you?
Or take me for a ride, and strip me of everything including my pride
But spirit is something that no one destroys
And the sound that I'm hearing is only the sound of
The low spark of high-heeled boys
I don't always listen to Traffic, but when I do, so do my neighbors. -
Brittle recall wax on wax off?
Go find a nice dirt hill in a shady park
WALK up and down the hill for one hour a day
Slow ez on the way up and slow motion on the way down
EZ pendulum Leg swings , supported squats , activate your glutes with ez back kicks
be aware of tightness gently loosen avoid pain relax keep your mind empty except for the effort .
What you really need is what every runner needs pain free enjoyable running
It might not be achievable but it is not a wasted effort. -

I got a pair for Christmas. Raced in them once and ran two hard tempos run on the track. Ran my fastest times since my lymphoma treatment. They have an interesting feel to them. In a way slap the ground. Definitely felt they helped me run faster. That said, at the time I was psyched up to do my best, plus I had dropped ten pounds by the end. Best effort was a 14:49 3,000 meter tempo in early March. -

^A prudish Frenchman.

Obviously the Brojos are prudish too since they thought it worthy of removal.

Brittle, I can offer this anectdotal info about the Vaporfly:
Sequential 5K times for local 60-year-old competitor, been running consistently for years, no change in training, 2019 racing season. All flat, USATF-certified courses.
Before Vaporfly:
19:17
18:58
19:12
19:14
After Vaporfly:
18:44
18:42
I spoke with him after that 18:44, his first race in the new shoes. He credited the shoes 100% for the huge mprovement. And reported that ALL his clubmembers had seen similar gains with the Vaporfly. Placebo? Dunno. -
Nah, you reported it because you’re a turd, and you take every opportunity to harass me. Admit it for once.

I did not report it, but nice try at deflecting from your creepiness. -
OK, then you’re just a turd and take every opportunity to harass me. It’s a regular deal with you. What’s up with your Igy obsession. Speak of creepy.

It was I who reported that photo. It was a disgusting and unnecessary photo. It was not harassment to call you out for this. It was appropriate and necessary to have it removed. You are lucky that you weren’t banned. -
Ran 240 miles in July, so gradually increasing from previous months. Feeling healthy, but do not have that 2017-19 mojo back yet.
Did 13 at 8700-9500' yesterday on mountain backroads and trails, avg. 7:31; 15 for the day. Now I'm fairly tired.
Allen59, interesting anecdotal evidence on the Vaporfly, and it looks to be about in line with what I've seen with other age group competitors.
