Sweat from hard work; something you will never understand.
Go drink a beer, have some bean dip and watch someone else being athletic.

Is that Liz?
Coyote,
Patti Bellan W55. Won CIM and Honolulu marathons as a youngster. Won cross country for her age group in 2018, 2nd in track 5k. Like you she likes to cross country ski in the winter.

Sounds good except for the bean dip.
Oh yeah I remember her from Clubs!
Here is a piece Patti wrote on being in the first wave of women distance athletes.

Not much to report here. I've got one more week in the boot. Then I'll start with a PT who specializes in Graston, ART & ESWT. He is confidant my Achilles issues can be resolved with 5-6 once/week treatments. I'll start with him the week after next. I can actually walk without limping, walk down stairs on my toes and there is zero pain. I'm optimistic these days!
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the boot combined with PT can solve your Achilles issues.
The first orthopedist I saw about my insertional Achilles tendonosis told me I needed surgery, period. The second one said I probably needed surgery but did offer the option of trying a boot first, which I didn't do. These were 3.5 and 2.5 years ago, and since then I've been managing the heel, sometimes running with almost no limitations for weeks or months and then going through weeks or months of only limited running. The past 8 weeks or so it's been feeling better, and my husband commented that my heel looks less swollen than it used to. It seems unlikely that after 4.5 years it will actually recover, but you never know.
I have not tried any PT because I know of no competent therapist within sensible driving distance. I live in a backwater where most adults are obese, sedentary, and diabetic (more so than in most areas!) and health care of any sort is barely available. There may be a good physical therapist around here but I have no way to find him/her and referrals from other runners appear useless (I've been directed to several total quacks). Guess I'll just keep on self-managing.
Good luck!

Can somebody get this poor slob a tissue? ?
Sounds like you’ve never done any running in the cold and snow. Come back and comment after you have.
I had a tough case of Achilles tendonosis 3 years back. Twice I took three months off from running. After the second layoff, I ran barefoot on grass for the first month. The condition healed.
When I was suffering with it, I felt like my running life was over. I was happily surprised that I was able to resume.
In part, it was caused by tons of mountain running -- I'd lived in Southern Mexico for 10 years and most runs took me from 5000 to 6000 feet.
Greetings from L.A., where I’ve been on business the past week. I’m glad I did a lot of turf running in KC, because it’s been sidewalks and treadmills since I got here. Then again, the weather here has been splendid, whereas the best thing you can say about KC since I left is GO CHIEFS!
I guess it’s just me and OGII representing at XC nationals this weekend? This will be my first national race, and all I know is I’ll have a number on my back as well as my front. I’m taking the train down to San Diego Friday afternoon, hopefully in time to run the course during the practice window (which I think is 2-5pm).
Kid Coach and I have talked through where my effort should be. He’s also given me a number that he thinks I can achieve on a course as fast and flat as Mission Bay. I’m hoping to use that number at the start of the race to make sure I’m at the right pace, but otherwise run on perceived effort.
i'll be there too, so KCgeezer, come by the calcoast tent (it's blue) and say hello. you're also welcome to drop stuff off there before the race if necessary...
see you saturday,
cush

Is that the same guy from the body shaming thread?
Is this the post you made on that thread? So glad you took the time to find my photo. I will say I have lost 20+ from June 2018 following chemotherapy. It has been very difficult to get this far. No matter what the future holds I will always be a better person and a better runner than you.

This photo was posted in another thread regarding a runner’s age and wearing Vaporflys. I think that is a reasonable discussion.
Not surprisingly, however, the discussion soon turned to the guy’s boiler. Given that he was reported as 80+ years old and a 40:00 5k runner, I think his body comp really doesn’t matter. Guys like that should be celebrated, not denigrated.

I did not see this post until referenced today. I know many of you tire of these battles, but I would like my friends here to see my response to that earlier post I missed until today.

Whoa, slow done there, McDuff. That wasn’t my doing. I’m sure you can see the reference to the original thread. Don’t shoot the messenger.
Yours was not an innocent post. What is it with people like you?
I am still doing walk/runs. the lower back still is tight, and I actually don't feel a lot of energy to run "long". Still doing daily PT to strengthen and stretch back and core. Thinking long-term, I can imagine working less and playing more. Only 16 more months till I can max out on Social Security!
Running about 10-13 miles weekly, and about another 20 of walking, daily singles, twice weekly weight training.
Had another skin tag burned off (pre-cancerous), and I cannot imagine trying to walk a mile during chemo, nor can I imagine that kind of nausea and weight gain to deal with. Your internal strength is still your strength, Igy.
Creatine? Anyone have anecdotal or otherwise?
Seems interesting legal ect for over 60s to help maintain muscle massand atp production and more!

I retired at 68-1/2 and have been pretty darn happy so far with the opportunity to do more recreational things and the decrease in time sensitive responsibilities.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
