I just bought a pair of the lunaracer plus and after trying them on I'm considering send them back. The actual length of the shoe is fine, but the sides are really tight. Odd, because I have a really narrow foot. To anyone that has had these before, do they eventually stretch out and mold to your foot a bit? Or, should I send them back and get a half size bigger.

is it the new one? with the shiny material on the outside as opposed to the multilayered upper? that is the lunaracer 1/3, the one with the multilayered upper is the 2. i loved the 2, probably the best shoe ive ever worn. the 1/3 though i found very tight in the forefoot to the point of pinching something in my foot when i run workouts, so my big toe and second toe go numb on one foot. however, with a hundred to 2 hundred more miles, they've loosened up a little and i dont have the same problem.
It must be the Lunaracer 1/3. I was planning on racing a marathon in them, but may stick to the Kinvara now. It's funny because I feel like even if I went up half a size, I would have them same problem because the length of the shoe isn't the problem.
Mine loosened up after about 50 miles.
I still prefer the fit of the Lunaracer 2.
For the Lunaracer 1, I brought them to an old school shoe shop and had them stretch/widen the forefoot area. Duct tape your big and pinky toes (or whatever toes get chewed up) for the first 5 to 6 workouts you do with them and you should be fine.
The 2's were a lot easier to stretch because the material was softer. The 1's have nasty underlays...not sure what Nike was thinking when they rolled those off the assembly line...
You should buy these shoes at least a 1/2 size larger. I've had the 1's and the 2's but not the new 1's (whatever they're called).
I went back to the 1's for Boston even though they are very tight in the toebox. I get blisters in between the pinky toe and the toe next to it. I had a blister pop around mile 18-19 in Boston and my other foot popped but I didn't feel it, but my shoes was a bloody mess.
I have the LR2's and ran my fall marathons last year in them. Didn't have as much blister problems, but they just didn't feel as fast as the LR1's. Also, the LR1's I ran Boston in were my regular size not a 1/2 size up. So they were too small to begin with.
I'll probably get the new LR1's for fall races and hope for the best.
