Most D2 schools would let you walk on. If you want to run D1 then you need to be 50/1:57/4:25/9:30...and this is for mid-major schools....and you wouldn't get too much money from them...
thats what I figured, I was looking to go to a D2 school anyways. What times are necessary to recieve some money at the D2 level?
If you run in the 16's you could walk onto a good majority of D2 teams. If you run in the high 15's you'll start seeing money and low 15's you'll see a good bit of money.
E-mail the coach and ask. Ever school is different. Be proactive.
alright, any schools in mind?

You can run in college wherever there are shoulders on the road or trails through the woods. Maybe they'll even have a treadmill for you.
good one lol
you want letsrun to pick you college?
You're a 5 minute miler asking where you could run in college. Why don't you take into consideration actual reasons you should be deciding on a college and then as a footnote - does their running program fit for you? If not, what is their club team like? Most schools with really good teams have club teams that meet just as regularly and do the same sort of workouts your team does now. Even travel to meets to compete together and gets funding from the school to do all of this.
Are you at all smart?
How competitive of a school could you get accepted by?
What do you want to major in?
What region(s)/state(s) are you considering?
There're thousands of colleges. Don't ask which one you should go to based on you being a 5 minute miler. Geez.

There is this thing called the internet...you can do all kinds of interesting things with it. Do your research...look up results...figure out what you want to study. Damn kids these days are so damn lazy.
Whatever you do make sure that you look at past results for whatever school it is and look for athletes improving over time. If there is not improvement find somewhere else to go.
Yeah, you'll have to improve a lot in order to get any $. Look at the D3 level. I'm going to be attending a D3 school and running. Im a 15:57 3miler (still not a fantastic time and wasnt offered much money at all at some D2's)
