have had the pirannah ii and pirannah iii
me and my teamates raced in the 3 in xc
loved both
still use them for workouts and probably will in the outdoor 10k
I have trained all over this great world but have never been to Asics Piranhas. Where is that anyway?
any complications? any injuries?
I used to train in the Hyperspeeds and do workouts in the Piranhas. I never had any specific problems, but now I train in the Sky Speeds, do workouts in the Hyperspeeds, and save the Piranhas for racing. Using 4-7 ounce flats for everything just seemed like overkill.
It's one of the few shoes on the market I can run in. But I need to use the 2. It has less of a heel counter than the original. I am in no way biomechanically efficient.

I do basically the same thing: Train in the Hyperspeeds, speedwork in the Piranha, though lately I've been wearing the Piranha for more everyday runs. Both have fairly wide toe boxes, though the Piranha is a little less-structured so it stretches more, I think.
The Piranha's remind me of a little more-cushioned Mizuno Wave Universe. I've done up to 17 miles in the Wave Universe, but I don't think I'd go that far again. Though I didn't experience any problems, I thought that was pushing it.
I only race and do some speed work on the track in my Piranhas. I still have a pair of II's for training and use the 3 for races. Most my training is done in my final pair of Banditos. What a great shoe. Really don't feel the DS Racer 8 was a true replacement. My alternate day training shoe is the Asics Tarther which is very similar. I don't see many comments on the Tarther. Anyone else run in them?
