Is German Fenandez the biggest dissappointment in recent years?

Alan Webb meets your "crtieria." Ran 3:30 for 1500. Has run 3:37 this year. GF +8 secs. AW +7 secs. Suxs to be a well known runner.

Its wierd. Some guys get better and better and improve until they are 30 years old. Other's don't after age 20.

I just look now at Bumbalough and Evan Jager, they were fasat high schoolers and made the transition to the next level.

Never mind. Fernandez will be fine. He'll eventually run 3:35 and 13:20 before he graduates. I hope he knocked off that vegetarian diet kick. Anemia is keepingn him back I suspect.

2Months - GF runs an even cooler 13:22

3 Months - GF runs a slightly less cool 13:40... BUT WAIT it was to win the NCAA's running the last mile in sub 4... so it was zesty after all

4Months - GF does unspeakable acts to yo mama after a cool 3:38 summer outing

5 Months - GF gets bust on a 1500m... running 3:36 (almost there)

9 months - on its XC time again... and GF is looking fresh... so fresh and so clean clean... that he runs away with the title in a cool 28:35... Course record, and he steals your girl friend who is watching him emphatically, wishing to know the touch of a real man, and having that wish granted

NOW its next track season, and because i am tired of typing, his PR's will end with 13:13 and 3:31... get MCNASTYYYY

Do the math, it adds up, but remember to factor out the fact you are not God's gift to running, and GF is... CHEARRRRSSS and GEARSSS for many YEARRRSSS

Andrews and Derrick?

Andrews missed this indoor season, but otherwise has been nothing but phenomenal?

Derrick's missed some time due to injury, but has been improving at an incredibly consistent rate. He's already among the most consistently high runners ever in the NCAA XC Champs, and showed a week or so ago that he can come back after a layoff and run roughly 13:45i or so. In 4 years, he'll either have a sub 27:10 to his name, or at that point maybe have given us something to call him a bust.

Jager, yeah, we're waiting to see if he can get healthy and reproduce, or exceed his 2008 season.

Sanchez, and Andy Powell as well, were huge busts. There were lots of guys that were stud high schoolers that never seemed to match what you expect from stud high schoolers.

Magness ran a 4:03 indoors in 2005. He also ran 3:46-3:47 4 of the 5 years following his 4:01. He didn't have a good college/pro career, but it's nowhere near as bad as what you're making it out to be.

3:46 is terrible for someone who ran a full 4:01 mile in high school, don't even try to positively spin his performances post high school.

For real though, GF is about to do big things, he has qualified in the 3K. He will win at nationals.

AND just as a general note to th R-tard that started this thread, 2 years ago he ran 3:55 indoors and won nationals in the 1500m going away. It would be crazy to think he is a "bust" after he had 2 sub par years, one of which is not over yet... GF has looks, he has charisma, and he has brains... he is literally the triple threat... He will undoubtly steal all yalls girl friends who be h8in up in this piece when because rocks blocks and double downs on the docks

He will be fine, talent like that does not disappear. As long as he does not get injured again, he will return to form by the end of the year. Just a few weeks ago he was right in the mix with Chelenga, Webb, Nelson (who just ran a 13:20) over 3k.

GF will be ready for a nasty 5k or two during outdoors, when it really counts.

Idiot. It is NOT one bad race. It is more than a year and a half of mediocrity and worse. Something aint working.

He has been recovering from a serious achilles INJURY. Cross was one big exercise in regaining fitness, indoors is for getting some races under him again, outdoors it's time to be sharp and take care of business.

Do you get it? Do you have any idea how long it takes to get back to the level he entered college at, after your first serious injury? You don't run in the low 13's, 3:55 indoors, etc, then deal with a chronic injury for an entire season, and proceed to burst back onto the scene lighting the world on fire. I have known elites that suffered seemingly small injuries and never were able to leave the injury cycle, no matter how many specialists they visited and worked with.

The amazing thing is that he is finally healthy and training and slowly but surely coming around. You can expect him to lay an egg now and then as he returns to form. This is not just a year and a half of mediocrity. It is a long battle with injury that he is finally winning, and if you can't see that, then you know very little about elite running and even less about coming back from injury at that level.

He bounced back from his achilles injury in a matter of weeks. Unless setting a world indoor record is not sufficient evidence that he had bounced back to a high level.

His "chronic injury" after his frosh 1500 championship and junior 5000 record was low iron levels. Rather strange "injury" I would say. And bursting back on the scene? What the hell are you talking about. Again, what part of more than a year and a half since he looked right do you not understand?

You claim that he is healthy but there does not seem to be any evidence of this. Indeed, there seems to be some pretty convincing counter-evidence.

So, unless you are GF himself and you have a bunch of inside info that others here do not then you are really just talking out your ass. And a rather stupid ass at that.
