The ad on the page changes depending on a number of things. We don't all see the same one.

All religions have their own idiosyncratic beliefs, but Mormons were told by Joseph Smith in his Doctrines of Salvation that if they lead good lives under the "Straitness of the Way," that they can become gods themselves, and obtain their own planet with their wives to populate with spirit children.

If there's enough fuss about this, maybe G*d will come down and tell us that sex is okay after all. Just like he did about black people in '78.
hey-yo.
and btw...it had to have been a white girl for ppl (administration) to care so much.
So what, certain religions told those who wanted to serve in their church they could never ever have sex in order to be worthy enough to serve. are you serious ?
Do you believe Moses parted the red sea ? do you believe Jesus walked on water ? not anymore outrageous then Mormons ? please look outside your little box.

Babtists and no dancing? Aren't they the ones who dance all the time in church!??
they were foolish to go there, but davies probably did not expect that they would actually enforce such a policy. there are lots of regulations on the books, but byu students probably have sex regularly. my pt about the honor code was that it is all about their personal lives and mentions nothing specific about their academic lives. be honest implies not cheating, but at a college, what is relevant is not whether they disagree that that dress makes her look fat, but whether they plagiarize or cheat on tests, and that should be the limit of the honor code, what is relevant to their academics.
Davies was raised by white parents in Provo please don't act as if its a racial issue. I have two buds who are white and were let go from BYU-Hawaii basketball team for the same thing. Both still love the Church and are back in good graces. Growing up LDS you know the deal going in , if you don't agree { I also know a guy who left the church right after hs} don't go to BYU. Plenty of people make that choice.
F***ing Mormon idiots. Living in Utah, I'm pretty sick of these fascists.
The ironic thing is, anyone living in Provo knows that BYU is notorious for hard drug use and prescription drug abuse. Sure, there is little to no drinking going on among the student population. But go to a house party and there will be a dozen people railing Xanax off a coffee table.
The Mormons want people to get married before having sex. Catholics and most other Christian denominations would agree with this sentiment.

I can take any denomination and make it seem weird. Example, telling grown men and women no sex for the rest of your life in order to serve in a church ?
is that normal ? are Baptist and no dancing normal ?
is being moved by the spirit so much you speak in tongues normal ?
I don't think you seem right to me, hows that kitten ?
I find it curious that such a degree of hate is summoned at the mention of the Mormon religion or lifestyle.
It is the one religion where it is perfectly fine to blast them and not have to worry about the PC police coming after you. Can you imagine the uproar if this was a thread on Jews ?
Libs hate them cause of the gay stand.
Conservatives hate them cause they take away members of their evanglicals church's.
I was reading about this case this morning and thought, "What did he get suspended for?" That took me to a mountain west messageboard this morning.
They linked to a BYU website that talked about the old term "just the tip" and the new term "floating."
You can figure out what those mean here:

They weren't saying that's what he did. They were just talking about things people at BYU tried to get away with in the past.
LDS beliefs have more in common with radical Islam than other Christian denominations.
All religion is idiotic in the first place, but Mormons and other offshoots of Christianity, Islam, or Judaism take their idiocy to an extreme. Welcome to America.
Even the founders of this site hate Mormons.
Most colleges want their teams to succeed. BYU uses their teams to proselytize. I don't think it's a coincidence that they kicked this kid off the team right when the team was achieving its #3 ranking and was the talk of the college hoops world.
Now BYU is the talk of the entire sports world, and it's because they care more about morals than wins. It also gives them the best-ever excuse for underachieving in the postseason - "we're too moral." Great PR for a church that hasn't had much lately.
Floating??? Wow. Unbelievable; awesome that people would even attempt that. ha.

This post exemplifies why the world is falling apart as we speak. People literally have no morals, it's amazing.
maccabee, get off your high horse. "morally" it is past your bed time.
I would disagree about the morals vs winning statement.
BYU loves winning, just like any University. Why do you think they recruit student-athletes who obviously aren't mormon and don't have any interest or belief in it?
