Looks like a typical paper-clip design of a track from the 70s. Only thing worse may be the nearly SQUARE tracks at local YMCA elevated above the courts with "banked" corners.

He tried to go to Grand Vally State's 300m indoor track (not far from Rockford) but they were closed for the holidays and wouldnt let him on, so he made the longer trip to CMU's 200m track.
The injury is clearly GVSU's fault.
Picture of dufus responsible for injuring Ritz:
If the roads were good enough to drive from Rockford to Mt. Pleasant, then it was good enough to run outside.
it must be GVSU's fault.
Central has a standard 200 meter track. It isn't that bad. At least he didn't try to run at MSU's....he would have gotten knocked over by the the overweight women that walk there or the highschool kids that take up the entire track.
You're an idiot, he didn't say either of those things.

Just ask Frank Shorter. An indoor track workout injured his ankle and hurt his buildup for the 76 olympics.
Yes, he had a terrible Olympics in '76. He lost to a known drug user and ran away with a Silver. Must have been the indoor track...
Well you certainly are the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Well you certainly have never been to the Central Michigan track to say it was too dangerous for him to run on.
I don't think his injury much to do with a flat track. It was just a fluke that he rolled his ankle like that, nothing more.
Why do I need to go to CMU to know that Ritzenhein running 7 miles of intervals on a 200m track is a bad idea?
You people crack me up. None of you are world class athletes. None of you coach world class athletes. A few of you MIGHT be slightly better-than-average college or high school runners, and even fewer of you MIGHT have had some success back in the day (making you has-beens now).
And yet you all come on here and rip all the best running programs, coaches and athletes just because it makes you feel better about yourself. Be honest, what is constructive about your methods of criticism?
But to your credit, it must take an extraordinary amount of energy to be that unduly hateful and critical.
Malmo, I also highly doubt that Alberto ever said any of those things? When and where?
Sources?
Ya think?

Chill out, you sound like my wife the first time she heard Jim Rome on the radio.
But seriously, Ritz couldn't find/buy a decent treadmill? Ingrid Kristensen was known for training on one during the Norwegian winters. She had one that went up to a 4:12 mile pace.
Is everyone stupid today!!! Malmo was obviously being sarcastic/facetious - get a clue!!

Facetious yes. Definitely not sarcasm.
