nrh: if your friend Jamal Tongo is interested in running DI, he could have been a bit more proactive than waiting until he is out of high school to begin thinking about winning a scholarship to college. Why has he waited? Now that he is out of high school and interested in running, tell him to put together a profile of his academic and athletic accomplishments and get off his arse and reach out to the recruiting coaches at D1 programs that are consistent with his profile. He will have to take SATs, etc. It is laughable to think that he will be discovered all of a sudden, on this board no less, when he could be out proactively doing something to get himself on the radar screens of potential D1 recruiting coaches. Most programs have filled out their rosters at this point for '11/'12, but there might be a few holes that need to be filled here and there. Academics will also be important. There are thousands like your buddy who are all over these coaches making their respective sales pitches. Thoughts?
