When is Kenenisa Bekele returning to competitive racing?
When is Kenenisa Bekele returning to competitive racing?
I enjoy watching threads that ventolin posts in.
yes, he is a funny guy coming up with random numbers.
There can be no doubt that MAPIV took ventolin to the woodshed and it wasn't pretty.
I agree with Ventolin in regard to Komen's basic speed. If you watch a lot of his races he very rarely has any kind of kick at all. He was just one of the most relaxed runners ever at 59-61 pace. I'm sure someone posted a bit of Komen's training once and mentioned that he'd often be a mid packer at 400 reps and below, but would crucify everyone at the longer stuff.
Also the workout Bob Kennedy said they did of 1600, 1200, 800, 400 where Komen ran 3:54, 2:53, 1:54, and 55 hints at someone without super fast wheels as if he really had 49 sec speed then that last 400 would surely have been quicker than 55?

Here is where you make no sense. Look at your last line of figures. They make some sense, except for one glaring problem...I do believe Komen was probably capable of 1:45.9 and 3:28.6 at the height of his powers, maybe even 26:32. But to run 1:45.9, you cannot be only a 50 flat 400 runner. I do not believe it is possible. Let's say you run a typical 1:45.9, by which I mean you'd probably split 52 and 53.9. You'd be too close to your maximum in the first 400. This makes no sense...He'd have to be capable of running under 50 for 400 meters...
100% agree, impossible to run sub 1:46 without sub 49 speed.

How do you think Joesph Ebuya would fare against Kenenisa Bekele in his most dominant year 2004 when he won the long race by 18 seconds and short race by 5 seconds?
Well, I guess that question has been answered. There is no way Bekele at his best would get trounced in ANY race (especially a 10k race in x-c) the way Ebuya just did. So while Ebuya is still having a brilliant season, NO, he is not at Kenny B's level yet (nor likely ever will be. There can only be on GOAT after all)
Ebuya over-raced and tired... Komon showed his pedigree, guess he was just racing into shape last week.
As I stated previously, I am not sure Ebuya makes the World Championships (track) for Kenya, thus the asinine comparisons to Bekele.
The logic seems skewed: You're saying that Komen's (supposed) 400 time suggest WR potential at 10k, when he doesn't hold the 5k record? Wouldn't you say that a registered 5k time is more correlational to a possible 10k time than a hypothetical 400m time?

He was being sarcastic and mocking ventolin
Ebuya won world cross previously so you can't accuse him of being somebody who peaks at the wrong time. He's just running really really well right now.
But, I agree we still have no idea what he'll do on the track. The remarkable 10k split in the 10mi road race doesn't prove anything either; road, track, and xc are just different sports. Running sub-26:40 or sub-12:50 takes skill at track running, there is no evidence Ebuya has it.
I think a more fair question would be: is Ebuya nearing the CROSS-COUNTRY form of Bekele 2002-2006?

err...
you do know ebuya ran 12'51 as a raw kid
if he ran that off "no skill" i'd be interested to know what he can do if/when he does acquire it ?!

Stop lying ventolin, Ebuya had already run a full season in 2006, and didn't run his PB until September '07 - not a "raw kid" at all.
You've been caught lying twice in this thread now - I suggest it's time to go back to playing with your "calculator".
for sure he will be back soon. he has already start trainig. the knig is back

Well, actually, there have been many GOATs. Just one at a time.
Bump
Ebuya had a fairly torrid time at the Kenyan armed forces x-country championships....
Either 15th or 23rd according to this rather badly written article!
^Not up to Kenny B par at the moment..

We all know Kenenisa Bekele is one of the all-time greats in cross country. After looking over 2011 season which Kenenisa will be skipping a startling Joesph Ebuya seems to have improved on his form which won him the 2010 World X Title. Joesph has won fives races losing his first to Teklemariam Medhin by one second; however, since then he has been as dominant as any x-country runner. In his four wins this year Joesph has waited late to pull away and then he has destroyed the field twice winning by almost a minute against stacked fields**.
How do you think Joesph Ebuya would fare against Kenenisa Bekele in his most dominant year 2004 when he won the long race by 18 seconds and short race by 5 seconds?
Well, for whatever reason (Noah Ngeny said Ebuya had stomach pains), Ebuya could not finish the Kenyan Trials. I think Kenenisa in his prime would have handily defeated a healthy Ebuya...
VIPAM, stop it with these ridiculous threads.
