They got second at their regional. Why did they only run 6 guys? I am pretty sure they have more than that number of guys on their team. Just curious. Muchas gracias.

The fact is they only had 6 guys who weren't hung over on that day. FSU is a party school and most of the athletes wouldn't miss a night of drinking for something as small as a regional meet the next day.
I hope that's not true.
Yep FSU is a party school, one of the best, but those parties revolve around sporting success, so the athletes know they have a job to do, FSU has high standards amongst all sports. FSU also has best facilities, trails, coaches. They have dynasty potential.
Coach Braman is a great coach, FSU have had great teams over the last 7 years, they usually perform well throughout the season, however at nationals they have never performed to their potential.
By keeping a few guys fresh, they should crack the top ten this year. If they run their best race of the season I could see them place as high as 6th place.
Is that why they only ran 6? To keep a few guys fresh? I mean I went on their website and their team has more than 6 guys.
They ran 7, one was a DNF.
Honestly I wouldn't know for sure, I heard Fout was a late starter to the season through injury. FSU were going to make it even if they finished 3rd. Who cares about regionals if you've competed well enough through the season, it's all about the big dance, where in the past they haven't busted any moves.
What they should have done was still run 7 guys, sat out the ones that needed rest, and let other guys on the team run, like the number 8-10 runners who usually don't travel, maybe some average senior runner.
GO NOLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
maybe one of them wasn't ready to reveal their stache yet

Maybe they should taking cross-country seriously, say like Oregon? or Stanford?
Like Oregon or Stanford? A couple days after nationals and your the one with "egg on your face, dumbass!"

was pointed at this idiot, not the guy i quoted above
I'm currently a freshman at anthonther college and I have a p.r. of 32:59 in the 10k. I actually am planning to apply to FSU. Do y'aa think I could at least get put on the team as a walk on. I plan on going at least low 31's next year seeing as I was basically forced to do 50 mile weeks at the college I am at right now.
not positive about the walkon policy but email braman and ask him, generally nice guy

If you get your mileage up to a respectable level (between 100-120mpw) you would have a chance at sub 30 by your 30 by your senior year. That would turn some heads and would get you some scholarship money.

there are many more factors to it than that...
I know that I have the ability to get to sub 30.
I have been undertrained ever since I started running
Starting this winter I am done following a less than 50 miles a week schedule. I plan on getting in the 80's and 90's and averaging mid to high 80's.
The times I will bring in track season will show how serious I am to other programs.
I respect the motivation but my recommendation, take up your mileage in steps (getting into the 70s for spring/early summer sounds good though) and dont keep your eye on sub 30...just go PR by PR based on your current workouts and the times will come
but if you are able to walkon at FSU or anywhere else with a decent coach they will tell you that and what you or I or anyone thinks wont matter...
