It seems like it. Everyone and their mother is now doing 100 miles a week. If you want the upper hand, you have to go above and beyond.

Why stop there? Pretty soon everyone will be doing 120 miles a week and the new 120 will be 140. So you might as well get ahead of the curve and just start doing 250 per week starting tomorrow....if you want the upper hand.
pretty much
Perhaps. But, for a lot of the guys who are actually getting faster - 80 miles is the new 100 miles.
I agree with you 100%!!! That is all we need, one more slow ass white boy running 200 miles a week.

I know quite a few guys rotating up as high as 140mpw on a routine basis throughout the year. Quite frankly, I'm glad to see it after that pathetic decade of the 90's where everyone was afraid to run over 40mpw. Finally, we got some passion back in the sport.
let's be honest, it's more like, ever since the 1980s, 100 is the new 120.
It's about fast time not easy long run
Some guys on my college team didn't hit 100 miles even one week this summer/ croass country season. There's just no way to compete unless you're running as much as everyone else.
I hope so. For a long time, Americans were told "less is more." Americans often look for the easy way. Do the mileage - old school, brother.
