If you're willing to go somewhere and do something different a lot of the Wisconsin state schools have good programs and solid/good academics. I didn't attend so I don't know how selective the admissions process is but it might be worth a thought.
SUNY Cortland sounds like your kind of place, not too difficult to get into, great track program, and social wonderland.
XC team is in a rebuilding year, more of a sprint/middle distance program.
If you're interested in P.E./Kinesiology/Education Major it's perfect for you
Also it's commonly voted into "top party schools", even makes the playboy list every few years
This thread has to be kind of a joke. Basically you're asking us to recommend a school to you that sucks academically.
Most of the D3 schools you guys have all heard of also have superb academics, so they arent going to meet the OP's needs.
You need to find like a no-name school, basically. A school that is intramurals or NJCAA or something. where the top 7 dont break 30mins for 8k.

Look.
I got a 2230 on my SAT's, and have a 3.1 GPA. I'm not asking for a crap school, just one that fits my criteria. I've got a list of schools, just thought I'd ask letsrun to see if someone would throw out a school that might potentially fit.
Not sure what I did for you to be a dick. But anyways, I hope you choke on some popcorn tonight.
Thank you for such a detailed post! I've looked into the Redlands a bit but know nothing of the others.
La Verne is looking really good. They are loaded with freshmen this year! Nice job with the recruiting coach. Another freshman class like this and the dynamic of the conference is really going to change.
Pomona-Pitzer, is always good, and will be even stronger when their two conference championships return from a their respective study abroad programs.
CMS is losing 4 of their top 7. Maybe the new battle is for...FIRST PLACE
nice SAT score...check out Pitzer College.
or even Whittier College
they are in the same small school conference as Redlands but with much better distance programs

good call on Whittier, i forgot about them.
I'm going to respectfully disagree with you though, with the distance programs--Whittier Women beat Redlands Women last week, and have exploded the past 2 seasons. They've gone from cellar dwellar to contenders. Ranked 5th i think in W. Region. I think they have something like 20 women on their roster?! Most are pretty strong--pretty sure that their top girl (Callaway) qualified for the NCAA champs last year.
Men's distance is good, but they struggle to get into the top 4 of the conference each year. It's been almost 10 years since they were truly competitive within the SCIAC--back when assistant coach Louie Ibarra was racing.
It's possible that Whittier will beat Redlands next year. They will have a better returning roster compared to Redlands next season.
i dont mean to be a dick. It's just difficult asking letsrun to come up with D3 schools because most d3 schools people have heard of have superb academics. How low do you want to go? Also, transfer admissions are easier than freshmen admissions, so even with a 3.1GPA you're still probably in great shape.

If you're really willing to leave California for the right school, you should take a look at the MIAC schools (all in Minnesota) and the Midwest Conference schools (Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin).
The MIAC schools range from schools that may be out of reach (Carleton, Macalestar, maybe St. Olaf), to good schools that are easier to get in (Hamline, Augsburg, etc.), schools more and less secular, schools with a fair amount of diversity, and schools in the Twin Cities and in small towns. If you want to be in a place where you can get the most out of school, run and have a social life, you have a lot of good options. I'm pretty sure all of these schools have under 2,000 undergrads. The winters are long.
The Midwest Conference schools are similar. Grinnell is probably out of reach, but there are other good schools that may be viable (Beloit, Knox, Ripon, Monmouth, maybe Lawrence).
Check out the Conference meet (and leader lists) times to see how you stack up. My guess is you could make an immediate impact at any of these schools, and have people to run with at the schools with the more competitive programs. The quality of coaching varies.
If you want to stay on the coast, consider Willamette, maybe Lewis & Clark, or other schools in their conference.
Good luck.

I have not done shitty because of my level of intelligence (perhaps I overate myself) but rather...I'm a social butterfly...going to a smaller school would certainly be less tempting.
Okay, I've adjusted your post to what I read between the lines.
If you're not studying enough because of the social temptations at your current school, you're not going to study hard enough anywhere.
And if you're at a UC where you could be getting a top-notch education for a reasonable amount of (your parents?) money, but you want to transfer to a lesser, but much more expensive school, then you are not as smart as you think you are.
Not to be an ass, but time to buckle down and get to work.
Whittier College is fairly easy to get into, but amazingly they have produced 4 Rhodes Scholars and even a President of the United States...go figure.
Oh and for those track buffs, you'll be happy to know that Tom Tellez is a graduate of this school too!
There is a lot of truth in your post. I'm cool with being called out when it is correct. This semester I am maintaining a 4.0 so that should boost the GPA up a bit.
I know in the end it is I who must change in order to reach my academic potential. There are still plenty of reasons for why I'd like to leave. I do not go to a California school, not exactly sure how that one came up. I'm 100% responsible for my tuition and living expense but like I said before, the school I currently attend is not known for its academics. I DO NOT plan to transfer to a lesser school academically.
To the guy I called a dick....forgive me, that was rude and impulsive, thanks for the list.
I have no plans of being an Olympian, but with that said, I'd like to find a program that suits me well. I thought I wanted to run D1, but looking back on it I think I just wanted to be able to say that I ran D1. Sad I know, but at least I've came to realize it sooner than later.
there are tons of d3 schools out there. get yourself a fisk guide. or just look through the us news rankings and start up when you stop recognizing the names. or look at xc results from nationals and pick a team from the bottom of the list. this list of results is pretty handy:
http://www.ustfccca.org/assets/weekly-results/div3-byregion-team-scores-101110.pdf
don't know if anyone has mentioned st. lawrence, but they are decent but not good academically and good at xc. Other names in a broadly similar situation that I didn't see posted -- Willamette, Oberlin, Kenyon, Earlham, Rochester, Worcester Polytech, Kalamazoo College.
I love it, this thread gives me the chance to annoy all of my friends who went to crappy D3 schools like Williams.
