New World Record... Solinsky runs 12:36.32 and shocks the track world.
Rupp... who cares? Are the weather conditions even good enough for him to run?

Solinsky runs 12:52.38
No clue about Rupp.
Another narrow-minded, ignorant comments directed at one of our best American 5K athletes - impressive! Rupp in the mix at 12:54 over a tired CS
"no leading duties" - haha
Yeah, Bekele/Haile are always crying about "having to lead all the time". Toughen up, Americans.
12:56.8 for Rupp
12:54.0 for Solinsky
assuming the pace stays fast

Great workout, I'm assuming this was 4 days before Stockholm and not todays 5000. I'm hoping that as well. That is a pretty beefy workout for one of the last races of the year.

1) You are talking about the 2 greatest distance runners in the history of the world. You expect the americans to emulate them?
2) We can dig up the majority of Gebs championship races and watch him happily give leading duties to people he can beat by 10-20 seconds over 10000 and 5-10 seconds over 5000. Bekele has done the same.

Wish I could run :25.8 in the middle of a workout and look smooth doing it. Rupp is in great shape, handled that workout with ease with no workout partners. Almost taken out by a soccer ball though!
Makes me wonder what Solinsky is doing. He has been in Europe alone I guess with no Jager or Teg. What happened to Bairu and Nelson? I Jerry even there? Gotta be kinda lonely for Chris. What happened to Dan Lincoln by the way? Didn't he join that group? Just working on base for a year? Sub 13 next summer?
At the end of the video they acknowledge that it is before today's meet...I guess they just want to keep him sharp
I know they reference todays meet because it is 5000 (vs 3000 last week which meant little) but I'm pretty sure it was before the 3000. Thought there was mention of the upcoming 3000 in their by Salazar. This was a tough workout which would explain being a little flat on the sprint for the 3000, not sure they'd want to do this much before the most important race of the season in their minds.
Nice video. Galen is fun to watch - so fluid

What did happen to Lincoln? Shouldn't he be done with med school by now? Is he starting residency and training or has he postponed residency for one more go?

It really seems like there is a little cult of people who get very emotional when Rupp is promoted, and they jump out from caves and get pretty nasty.
You have this backwards. When Rupp does well, good for him. Sure he has a great resume, he's exceptionally talented, if someone were to say Rupp isn't talented, then you might have something. It's the fanboys rushing to Rupp's defense when he doesn't meet their unrealistic hopes and predictions. As I said, "I have no doubt Rupp will break 13", and I stand by that.
[quote]Why should people be told to hold their optimism as if he has not already achieved as much as the others?[quote/]
1. Nobody told you to hold your optimism, because of it's unrealistic nature it's highly amusing. By all means keep it up.
2. How many predicted Solinsky was going to break 27? Get the 5k record? Fanboys have been predicting that Rupp would this and more for years. Hasn't happened.
Rupp is a nice guy and a great running talent, get it.
No you probably don't and won't until you see me sucking off Alsal's tit and swinging off Rupp's jock like you.
Solinsky dips to 12:53.86. Rupp looks good for about 4000 meters and then mysteriously steps off the track. Later, cites he caught a bug in the windpipe.
Post race, Letsrun message board lights up with the post: Galen Rupp will DEFINITELY run sub 13 in 2011.

A few didn't rule out solinsky at 5000, most did because he didn't show the promise or progession in racing. Rupp has. As far as the 10000 goes, it's no surpise nobody predicted it. Most didn't even know he was running it until a couple days before the race and without a race beforehand, or knowing his workouts or a statement from him that he might be able to crack the AR it got no thought.
Running is a work in motion, Rupp keeps moving forward on his times and is clearly a 13/27 runner now at 24, with a lot of career left. If that rubs you the wrong way that is your issue, but Rupp is on the level. Nobody in US history was at 13/27 at 24 years old, a year out of college.
As per your last comment, grow up. I'm a fan and a man, not a boy. It's the boys who have to spew that kind of garbage and we know where it derives from. Some people just don't want Rupp to succeed, period.
Rupp has to finish this race. Whether he breaks 13 or not is anybodys guess, sure he has the talent, but does he have the nerve?
I wonder if Solinsky has another breakout performance or not. He has already had possibly the best season ever for an American distance runner.
Whatever, I'm excited to see what happens. Could be an awesome day for American distance.
Just hope Rupp finishes (fingers crossed).
Your reading comprehension is pathetic.
Nothing about Rupp "rubs me the wrong way", fanboys on the other hand...
As for Rupp's further success, I'm waiting just like you.
If your a man as you say, then act like it. Stop making excuses.
Solinsky 12:56 final
OP had it exactly backwards I think.
Solinsky looked awesome. I know he has run faster than this before but he can race as well.... He can hang with the best in the world and this raced just proved it. He is a serious medal contender at worlds and two years down the road in London...anythings possible.
