Don't overlook the old-fashioned situp. There are all kinds of "new" core workouts today, but the old situp is still very effective. (hands behind neck, crunch up until your chin is up towards your knees))

This is not trye.
the situp terrible especially if you anchor your feet to work hip flexors instead.
Try bicyle crunch and captain's chair crunch (can find both on-line) - they are best at working abdominals
Don't let the runnersworld name keep you from trying this routine. I don't know whether or not it's actually what Tegenkamp does but it is effective.
Here is one that I do and so do my runners
every exercise 60 seconds
back plank
boat pose with arms in running motion
side plank 60s each side
swimmers-(superman's) like a back plank but flutter kick and move arms like swimming
flutter kick in boat pose positon
superman with scissor kicks
sit up, alternating opp elbow to opp. knee
Boat pose scissors -move legs over and under each other-scissors
criss cross sit up- lie on back raise rt leg reach ankle with left hand, alternate.
wrestlers bridge if you can do it, good for posture due to running rounding them out.

Could you describe what boat pose is?
The Turkish Getup. Find it on youtube, and then get a weight.
