I look at some of the players, and wonder sometimes how fast they could run a mile in, or even 100 metres.

Mark Calvechkia (sp) is no Adonius either.
At least Daly is colorful and interesting, unlike most famous distance runners.
It's more of the skill, but you need to condition your muscles for repitition, precision, and yes strength, so there's definitely some "athlete" in a golfer.
BTW, I've met JD on more than one occasion, shared some brews with him in fact, he's a good down to earth guy, anyone can talk to him, it's just that he's got a bit of trailer park thrown in...but who cares!
John Daly went to Arkansas, of course, he's an athlete. I mean look at his pants!
He is not an athlete. He is a GOLFER! as per John Kruk's "Lady, I'm not an athlete. I'm a baseball player."
As in, if Tiger Woods who outside of having no marital discipline .is one of the most disciplined athletes of all time? He would or could have done almost anything, that is why he dominated an era, altho seriously that looks to possibly be over.
It may take him 14 years to win 4 more majors, and he may have to back into a few.
Golf is just like playing pool billiards, just skill.
Anyone who plays golf is NOT an athlete.
