Hey baby
Hey baby
It's the Fourth of July...
Hey, Malmo...
Someday, I'll have to share words about my dinner with John Doe.
Thanks for the link. Those guys kick ass.
Since Dave Alvin wrote the song for "See How We Were" it's only appropriate to have a link of him singing it.

Malmo:
Funny, I was about to send that one to you. The steel player is quite a nice chap.
No sport or holiday is sacred anymore .
X way overrated . What about the Fleshtones ?
X "overrated"?
I don't know about their career as a whole--although their range is impressive for a "punk" band--but "Los Angeles" is one of the most impressive debuts of all time, as well as one of the most impressive "punk" records ever, especially from an American band.
Dave Alvin wrote the song-X had somehat of of hit with it. Great song.
Never got 'em . East Coast/West Coast ,perhaps ?
Did get the DK's .
And, Mr. Not Chad Kroeger , you are no , Dead Kennedy !

"Los Angeles" is also one of the crappiest studio mixing efforts ever. It sounds tinny and in no way comes close to giving the experience of live X performance. John Doe's bass playing is a visceral full-body throb that fills the chest cavity, something you will never forget.
"Visceral full-body throb" describes the feel of Black Flag's show. Never saw X, but The Mighty Black Flag was the loudest couple of hours of my life.
Not a great mix, but neither was Raw Power, and that didn't stop a billion bands from picking up from The Stooges.
Love DKs, of course.
I got far more into the hardcore bands, many from the East Coast. Obviously, the gold standard is Minor Threat and maybe 7 Seconds.
X wasn't merely loud, it was the bass that went right through your chest that made the experience what it was.
If you want loud, Blue Oyster Cult is your fix, and they still play 300 sold out gigs a year, at a Holiday Inn near you.
You, me , Wineturtle , settle this at the refurbished Blarney Stone, near the Battery ,soon.
I' ll buy the first round.
Is that similar to England also celebrating it?
Is it too early to bump this?
I have that song on my ipod. There is another song about a stripper going to Abilene Texas that I like as well. Run to both on a treadmill quite often.

Actually, she is leaving the great Northwest to meet a guy in an Austin bar...
And just because she dances on tables doesn't mean that she has to take her clothes off. We've got some classy places out here!
Happy 4th.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
