NCAA Cross Country meet to start rotating

I hope Mo St gets it. UO ath dept is terrible with Mike Reilly restricting media access for our SID who takes videos and pictures.

You want to see a challenging course that is spectator friendly? Hold Nationals at University of Minnesota. I've run the Griak course numerous times and that thing is amazing. It's tough but allows for a lot of strategy to come into play. Who cares if its cold? The real top runners should be tough anyways...

Hell yeah ! Griak too. VOA park, San Diego Mission Beach, Long Beach Golf Course, VCP, too. Remember USATFs in Houston, they had that huge hill to run down in the pouring rain. The important point is to rotate XC champs around to 8-12 locations before any repeats.

I'm from Missouri and while it would be cool to see Nats here it would be a disaster too. There is no reason to come here except for school, or to visit the Bass Pro Shop, especially in November!

Nats need to be on a tough Southern course near a city with real cultural offerings and it needs to stay put like Foot Lockers in San Diego. Running in the snow may be romantic but that's for winter sports that use skis and such. Real running at its worst might involve mud, big hills, and jumps but when did miserable weather come to be a necessity? If anything, it's horrible for spectators and athletes alike and does nothing to promote the sport.

I'd say a NCAA XC championship would be a good reason. It is 10x better of a location than Indiana State.

Yes, Nats in Missouri would be cool, but I think it is a push that it somehow can compete with someplace say like San Diego. Such a move would do nothing to promote the sport, plus it's pretty freaking cold by November in Missouri. I know that from having run State several times there.

The AD from Louisville worked her way onto the NCAA subcommittee to get the bid, her job is to grab bids

in Olympic sports- now she's going to work for the NCAA.

Mike Reilly made his way onto the same committee. The course will be at Portland Meadows on the race track- different course than NXN.

Wisconsin, Lehigh, VCP, etc etc failed to turn in bids.

Mo State dropped Mens Track and XC, they do not deserve to host NCAA's

Portland Meadows is being sold to RE developers. It'll be a shopping mall by next year. NXN is moving to Dallas or Orlando.

How about Pioneers Park in Lincoln, NE? I've been a part of the Woody Greeno meet there twice now and loved the course.

In reference to a race track course, why not hold it at the site of the Memphis Twilight? I believe the race is held at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Man, isn't that the truth! It's a shame since every once in a while they would get a decent local talent that Arkansas didn't snatch up. I do remember the Ozarks as being great for some truly inspired Fall running. I loved the dirt roads there as a teenager.

I've been to Springfield MO. About as exciting as Fayette, Blue Lake Park, Terre Haute, Corvallis, Bloomington, Des Moines, VOA, Wazzou, Eugene, South Bend, Austin, Indy, Ft Van, Durham, Columbia SC,etc. A tucked away place with no 5-star accomodations, no intl airport. Mo St is a great place for XC. So if you pick those other places I'd put Mo St even with them. Why not since NCAA picks sleepy dead towns anyways.

This does not supply the right incentives. You want the best places to get it more often, even if not all that often. Giving repeated business is the best way to provide the incentives.

As for the post about Wisco not applying, I would think that they want to host Regionals first and see how it goes and see who they convince. I talked with a coach or two last fall and they said that the course was great and that they would definitely be back this year.

Are you sure he ran in flats? There was minimal cart path in '97.

Does a bid have to be only one school? Could the Philly schools go in together to try and bring it to the area? Probably not Belmont, but they could possibly do something at Vally Forge. They could set up a fairly challenging, but wide open course.
