Watch her interview on Flotrack post 1500m race, she mentions not being a good kicker and preferring a steady high pace. I'm just going by what comes out of their own mouthes.

Not only would Goethals most likely have beaten these two, so would Chelsey Sveinsson when healthy, seeing as they both destroyed Sisson in XC.

What 1500m race are you talking about.

I bet you're very proud of yourself dumbass.
I agree..and Sveinsson and Goethals both have better speed and kicks than Sisson and Cuffe do. I can't wait to see Goethals and Sisson on the college level this fall, and a Sveinsson v. Cuffe battle at Footlocker

Possibly, but I don't see how this is really relevant to a track 3k. Granted it was with co-ed competition, but Sisson's 9:51 is a sign she's either better in track than xc or has taken a major step since the fall season.I'm not aying Goethals couldn't have won, but there is nothing that either Goethals or Sveinsson have done that would make they would have likely won the race today. Possible yes. Likely, as in greater than 50% chance, no.

Then why weren't they in this race?? Who cares about dumb invitationals - this meet was to select a team for a World Championship - Americans have their priorities ALL wrong.
ALL the top junior age athletes eligible to compete in this meet should have been HERE, not at other silly meets which have little real meaning. The only excuse would be for College runners burnt out by a long season - and Robbie Andrews and Loxsom are entered, maybe their coaches get it that being a world champ helps show your program is strong, and that you can actually coach beyond the HS/College level. Maybe then Americans might learn to win big races (World/Olympics) beyond the sprint events. If Webb had spent less time trying to run fast at this age, and learned to race, he might actually have made finals at worlds/olympics by now.
Hasay doesn't have a good kick, she is a one speed (fast for her age) runner, relative to other "fast" runners her age. I doubt if she can even break 2.06 for 800m. She will be a distance runner in future unless she (like Twell has) can get down to sub-4.05/2.03 in the next couple of years. But that's fine as she might run well over 5000/10000m (like Flanagan) in coming years anyway.
Chelsey Sveinsson is Chelsey Sveinsson...she just does not lose when healthy! I really hope she stays healthy her senior year so she can put down some big times and wins.
Sisson is very good, but the two have raced 3 times this year and Goethals has beaten her every time. She simply doesn't lose close races. If the two were together on the last lap, Goethals kick is better than Sisson's. And I don't think Sisson would have dropped Goethals off of 9:20 pace seeing as Goethal's NBN 2 mile is worth a 9:16 or so.
Stupid Americans is right. There is no reason for the top juniors in the US to be sitting out the US Jr Championships. How do you get good at something? You practice it. It follows that you should practice competing on the world stage to get good at it.
Sisson is a beast, she's just better than Hasay in events over 3k. This isn't a fluke. She would have beaten Goethals too. Sveinsson maybe would have beaten her, but to say it would have been no contest is a joke. Sisson ran 9:51. That's moving. It doesn't matter who coaches her at the next level, she's going to dominate the longer distances in college.
With Sveinsson and Goethals in the race, it certainly still would
have been close. Maybe one of them would have won, but they wouldn't have run away with it. I think even if Hasay pushed the pace early, the result would have been similar, just with faster times. Sisson is a beaaaast 3K and up.
Sisson and her dad have a smart plan for her and I think she will be fine in college. Similarly, Sveinsson and her mom are smart and I expect both Sisson and Sveinsson to do well in college. Hopefully Metcalf does a good job with Goethals too...
I thought the commentator in the runnerspace.com video was just fantastic...

But of those three times two were in xc and one was indoors. Unless I'm missing a race, they haven't raced outdoors. The race wasn't run at 9:20 pace. The first 1500m was 4:50. The second half, and particularly the last 1200m was flying.
To be clear, I think Goethals is a great runner and she definitely knows how to win. She very well could have won this race, but I don't agree with the idea that she likely (which I also read as probably) would have won today. I don't see anything she's done at 2-miles as being superior enough to the races today to say she would be the likely winner.
My bad, my bad. Here we go:

Didn't hear her mention a lack of kick though..maybe I heard it during the race listening to the commentary..
Actually not a PR for Hasay, as she ran 9:12 indoors at the UofW meet on 2/13/10.
Isn't Sisson the girl who almost broke the national record in a time trial?
I think Hasay eased up at the line, just like Acosta.

Hasay has only lost to 4 runners on the track when she was in HS:
Anne St. Geme and Danielle Tauro, 2006 NON mile
Alex Kosinski, 2007 Sacramento Meet of Champions (SMOC) 1600
Laurynne Chetelat, 2007 SMOC 3200
All were older than her.
In cross country, the only two races she lost were 2006 Footlocker where she was 10th, and 2007 Footlocker where she was 3rd to Kroeger and Brasovan, both the same age.
So fun fact: In 2006, it was Emily Sisson who was the only freshman to finish in front of Hasay! Not sure on the ages of the Africans who finished ahead of Hasay at World Juniors and international competition, but it seems like Emily Sisson is the only American runner younger than Hasay to beat her... and this is actually the second time!!
also in high school she lost to stephanie twell (2 years older) kalkidan gezehegne (same age) and emma pallant (2 years olders.
remember in this race today wether she was first or second does not matter as it is just a qualifier for her big race this year world juniors july 19-25.
someone asked if they run 3k or 5k at world juniors.
women run 1500 AND 3k AND 5k
men run 1500 AND 5k AND 10k
not the 1st time Emily beat Jordan!
and Jordan Recovered just fine.
