Megan Goethals would have beat both of them. Why didnt Sisson run NBN?

Hasay could be in that post-season downward slide. You know the feeling - after a long season, you just mentally check out for a while.

Or she might be saving up a good bit for the 1500 (either jr or sr).

Emily Sisson kicked her butt.

Goethals would not have definitely beat both of them. Would have been VERY close.

Cuffe was mighty close....and only a junior

in high school. She's a tough runner. If someone else had taken the wind the first 4-5 laps, she probably wouldve had more left at the end too...

When was the last time Jordan lost to someone younger than her? I mean, Allie Mclaughlin beat her in cross last fall, and Brasovan and Kroeger beat her at Footlocker her junior year...but they're the same year. I think it was Footlocker her sophomore year probably...and on the track, I don't even know. It's been a while!

Sisson is having an amazing senior year, and Cuffe is great as a junior. The 5K on Saturday should be good with those two.

Hasay has only lost to 4 runners on the track when she was in HS:

Anne St. Geme and Danielle Tauro, 2006 NON mile

Alex Kosinski, 2007 Sacramento Meet of Champions (SMOC) 1600

Laurynne Chetelat, 2007 SMOC 3200

All were older than her.

In cross country, the only two races she lost were 2006 Footlocker where she was 10th, and 2007 Footlocker where she was 3rd to Kroeger and Brasovan, both the same age.

So fun fact: In 2006, it was Emily Sisson who was the only freshman to finish in front of Hasay! Not sure on the ages of the Africans who finished ahead of Hasay at World Juniors and international competition, but it seems like Emily Sisson is the only American runner younger than Hasay to beat her... and this is actually the second time!!

great race by both, but we know JH has no kick so it's not surprising that she would get outkicked.

What do you mean no kick?? She has gotten a pretty darn good kick the last few years. Arcadia Invitational 2008 against Christine Babcock, CA state meet 2008 against Laurynne Chetelat, 2008 Olympic Trials, Footlocker Nationals her senior year great kick there...

now who will probably do the 5k/10k in college.

Also, Hasay has run a 4:35 mile, and Sisson only ran a 4:44 at the Jim Ryun Dream Mile two weeks ago...so it's safe to say Hasay has better speed. Sisson and Cuffe are strong though!

Wow! Went through the 1600 in 5:10, and then covered the last 1400 meters in 4:08...that's 4:43 pace!!!

I hate to say it, but I don't think Jim Stinzi will be the guy to develop Sisson at Wisconsin.

I don't think there are too many distance runners who are high school phenoms who continue to dominate the same way in the college ranks. There have been a few - but not the norm. There's always a target on your back.
