Wheating wins 3:37.83
supposedly Wheating wins in 3:37 high with a winning kick, which means Andrews would have won had he been there because he has a far superior kick.
emmanuel had big lead with 200m to go and wheating and leer kicked him down. wheating's last 100m was reminiscent of olympic trials. acosta ran well too in 3:39

No Centro???
Centro will run Stanford where the 1500m record WILL fall. Just look at the stacked 1500 field at Stanford. Why Oregon wanted to run a meet the same weekend as Stanford and try to break records is beyond me. Its a ploy and was a waste. The 1500 and 10k fields are both MUCH stronger in Palo Alto, Obviously
Clocked his final 400m at 55.1
Glad I didn't pay to see that.
If this was a record attempt, why the hell was he sittin in the back?

Well at this level it's worked pretty well for him. The worst that he has finished outside of the Olympics and the Pac-10 1500 last year (3rd narrowly to Centro and Rupp) is 2nd in every track race and he's usually first.
Problem is although he never bombs he has finished 2nd when he really shouldn't have by being too far back too long. He should not have spotted that much distance to Lee and if it were Ulrey or Centro and perhaps even Fernandez that far ahead with 200 to go he might have run out of track to catch them. That has happened to him before. It's fine to kick hard, but his coaches should have him getting in better position down the back stretch.
Perhaps racing the 1500 at USA's or in Europe will teach him to get closer to the lead coming into that last 200.
Acosta looked strong and had a great kick himself. Ducks have 4 strong 1500 guys now, basically at 3:39 or faster. I would think McNamara would be there too if not for injuries again.

I felt the same way. He used up so much energy just to get back into striking distance. Probably could have ran quicker if he stayed closer to the front at the start.

awsome taking something about Andrew wheating and making it about Robby Andrews.
Someone is going to outkick Robby Andrews at some point also, All great runners have there trials and tribulations.

German F is that you?
The Oregon Relays were initially envisioned as a high school meet - and it was very successful at the XO Invitational. It was intended as a team meet where schools of all classifications could attend. Our tiny school attended for 4 years and it was an amazing experience for the kids. They called it the "magic track".
The U of O folks, however, wanted to join in the meet. By having the college and professional runners compete at the meet in front of enthusiastic crowds, the U of O gets to show all those top level HS kids how exciting it is to run for them.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
