Hell, they should experiment with the 400 too. It's Bolt's world now baby.

Yeah, the man's from Morocco.
Hard to tell from the video, but it looks like Tyson ran the last 100 in 12.5ish. First 300 in around 32 seconds.
So he was on world record pace for the first 300 at least, not that that means much but with better pacing he is clearly worth a good 1/2 second faster.

he went through 200 in 21.1

This equates to a 1:40.6 800 for a white guy. For a black guy, probably 1:50.
LOL!
People will miss the humor.
Gay is so doped it's not surprising. Just look at pics of him and the waxy/paper skin he's developed. Get real.
When people are trying hard to take off the rascist gown and even burn it, some of you are steal talking of the difference between blacks and white!
When are you going to see people as people beyond the difference in their skin colors?
In an interview on Britain's top gear Usain Bolt said he does not like the 400m so unless he changes his mind and changes the focus of his training I don't think he will be going after that record anytime soon..

Peter Elliot also ran under 1:43... and have a very good mile time also (3:47 or 3:48)!
It's funny how people always forget about Elliot when talkin about the best brits mid distance runners...
Oh please! Elliott was a cart horse compared to Cram, Coe & Ovett. He never broke a WR or won a global title like the other 3 did. Yes he was a v. good runner and would be Britain's No. 1 now, but he doesn't deserve to be in the same sentence as the other 3.
In any case his pbs were 3:32.69 & 3:49.20
Back to the OP, I think Gay looks in great form. All bodes well for a trimming of his 200 pb come summer
Wow this got racist really fast.
Does this make Tyson the first human ever to go sub 45, sub 20, and sub 10 in open races? I believe the only other person close is Xavier Carter, and as far as I know his 100m PR is 10.00
I'm so pissed I was out of town this weekend. I didn't know Tyson was running here...or World Champs Bronze medalist Renny Quow! DAMN! Stupid family obligations....

Is this Calvin Smith related to the 100M record holder from back in the day who was on the relay team that won at the LA games I think?
Yes. Father and Son
Stache I know we were going back and forth a bit in the thread titled Florida 4x400 runs 3:00.xx or something close to that. We were talking about the depth of the team. Here is something else from Tom Jones.
1. Florida “A” (C. Rainey, J. Hall, T. Wilks, J. Demps) – 39.06
2. Florida “B” (R. Anderson, C. Smith, J. Toppin, T. McQuay) – 39.31
B team would be ranked 9th in the world.
Holy CRAP! Good find Kipketer. The amazing thing about B team is it's full of a bunch of 400 (and 400/200) guys. Not that those guys can't run fast- obviously they can. but to think they were that close to the main 100m dudes is crazy. Great handoffs vs. not-so-great? Maybe the A team were not giving it 100% all the way round.
And look...Chris Rainey back in spikes!
Again I say, damn family obligations! I had all intentions of going to the meet, but had to be out of town.
Kipketer are you here in gville?

no idea where you come up with this from
he set 1500i wr with 3'34.2
he was definitely in the company of the big 3
he appeared to have nothing more than a 1 gear pace, but astonishingly ran 1'42.9 with it
all indications were from his style that this 1 gear pace woud be much better suited to 1500 than 800 & his 3'32/3'49 were derisory times for a guy with his "style"
in fact, in '87 he ran 1'43.4 / 4'52.8, which with
http://www.jundo.co.uk/-> 3'31.6 , 3'49.1
his 1'43.4 couda been nearer 1'43-flat as that was a championship race & not gp time-trial & his 4'52 was in a blanket-finish with spivey/buckner in a tactical affair
a 1'43.0 / 4'52.0 offers him upto 3'30.9
he was very likely in 3'30 shape in '87 & similarly in '90 when he ran a 2'45 tt in training, but didn't get the right race to show it like his 1'42.9
in retrospect, if he'd hit the right rhythm with that 1 pace gear in '90, it wouda been no big surprise to see a 3'28
No I dont live down there but I follow the team.
Wynne finally suited up although he false started.
I appreciate he was capable of faster at 1500/Mile (but was at absolute limit running 1:42.97 for 800), but then again so was Ovett, Coe & Cram.
At the end of the day Elliott never won a global title, never set an outdoor WR (unless you include his 2nd rate 1:49 800 leg in 82's relay WR) and never dominated the rest of the World's Milers for 2 or more seasons. Thus he isn't in their league in terms of what they actually achieved.
Perhaps this should be in a different thread, as it's got nothing to do with Gay's 400m performance!?
I hope Gay is on fire at 200m this summer, as another Bolt dominated season will be boring.

This proves Bolt could break the WR.
No, it proves Gay is better at 400m than Bolt!

Why would Bolt being dominant be boring? Because he isn't repping America? It would only be boring if Bolt has no real competition. The Berlin 100M was a whole lot of fun because Tyson pushed Bolt to run to the finish line. He has competition from Asafa and Tyson - the fact that he
maybe a step ahead of them notwithstanding. The US dominated the sprints for decades but I still found watching the sprints enjoyable. Bolt maybe dominant but in the sprints no one is unbeatable.

Oh? Didn't Coe run 1:41?
