Half of DII Nationals Mile/5000 Fields are from Adams State

Many 19-20 years olds from Kenya think D1 in the minor leagues. "Some guys guys are excellent, but on the whole they'd get spanked by" similar-aged Kenyans.

There's no doubt that D2 and D3 are inferior to D1, but why bother posting the obvious? Are you that insecure that you had to click on a D2 thread and be an asshole?

Not trying to make excuses, but at least take note in obvious things. The DMR last weekend consisted of no one who will be running it at nationals. Did you really expect that line-up to compete with the top of the RMAC? Is Western weaker then it was, yes. Are they the favorites for next fall? Probably.

D2 is not a sub-division on D1.. they are simply seperate divisions. It does work out though that D1 happens to be stronger all around, which primarily has to do with money.

man, you trolls would be hurting if the NCAA decided to get rid of divisions.

Why hasn’t Mr Martin he moved on to a D1 job? More money, bigger budget, better athletes, better facilities. CLEARY if he can get it done given all the limitations at ASC he could get it done at next level.

Is he simply content to hide behind the veil of D2 taking pot shots at the D1s for the rest of his career? I guess if the right offer came along he would move… every one/family has their price.

No way! Resting on your laurels wont get you there. Donnan will be gone and he is the only consistant performer you have. Adams is killer! You guys run like a bunch of pussies! Every year Adams grows stonger and Western grows weaker. The talent (including coaching) just is not at Western any more.

Damon Martin was offered the jobs at Arkansas, Stanford, Wisconcon and NAU and those are only the ones that I've heard about. He turned those offers down for a couple of key reasons. Firstly he has young children at school in Alamosa and does not want to move them, Alamosa has almost zero crime. Secondly for every drawback he has at ASC there is probably an equal benefit. Altitude, trials from campus, weather although with a bad rep better than at least 50% of the USA in winter and in the top 1% in summer and fall, no distractions for his guys even if they look for them and a very supportive athletic department and boosters (fully funded, alter G etc). If you want to be a fast distance runner Adams State is simply the premiere place to go to school. Why would Martin ever want to leave?

why would damon want to leave a fully funded d2 program that can get in any guy in the country and that also lacks any real NCAA over site. I wonder if the Adams boys even go to class?

Also, glad to see NCAA DII not send enough athletes to nationals to even be considered a real meet. 12 in a mile with a prelim? Really? Great stuff. Why not take 16-18 like a real meet? Just sad.

First off the comment about the number of athletes going to the meet is non other than the NCAA's fault. They are the ones who provide the funding and just don't give very much money for the national meets.

Secondly what happened to Daniel Kirwa from Harding? Last year he wins the mile and is a top runner in the 5k this year he doesn't make it in either event. Is he hurt?

the best runners and teams will still win regardless, even without altitude conversions in cross country. it just so happens that the best 3 teams are from colorado.

regarding adams/western/mines having an advantage in albuquerque: it is going to be huge. adams was already going to dominate, it will be on a bigger scale now. the #1 reason colorado won big 12's in 2008 was because they hosted the meet. they had some fantastic runners on that squad (vaughn, pifer, nelson) but i think there would have been a different outcome had the meet been in lawrence, ames, waco, etc.

Chill, I ran for Western along time ago, and I'm pretty sure you're a freshman from adams. If not a freshman, you're obviously someone who doesn't contribute to the team. I know most of the Adams guys, and Braun would have your ass if he knew who you were.

This just proves you're an idiot. Your lone compliment about Western isn't even true. Donnan is hardly consistant. Look at past results.

Western runs like a bunch of pussies? Weird. This year at nationals they ran like crap. No doubt about it. But what about the year before when they're were ranked 5th going into the race. I shouldn't even lick your chops, but oh well. Year in year out no one peaks like Western does at nationals.

Western and Adams have great programs, leave it at that. Don't be the 27:xx kid talking up your program when it's not needed and when you really don't contribute.

hmmmm, most old western runners would sorta agree that western is on the way out. oh and that includes Mr. Aish, yeah he doesnt exactly agree with whats gone on at western since he isnt coaching there anymore. Once his influence left western, they declined. granted their still a great team, but their not what they used to be

some proof: only one western guy(donnan) made an individual event in indoor, and he only did due to his abnormal talent (he's been hurt all season)

The big difference at Western is the coach. Plain and simple. She can't coach and then whines and cries about her situation.

It is not as simple as this coach is better than that coach. The big problem with Division II is the huge difference between the level of funding at schools. You have a few schools that are provide 10-12.6 scholarships some with 3-6 and then the majority at 3 or less. This is not the case in the major conferences in Division I, where the playing field is much more level.

My point about the NCAA not taking full fields for a championship had nothing to do with the RMAC, I was just saying, it's sad to only take 12, you can not have a prelimed championships with 12.....the NCAA rulebook clearly says how many are appropriate for a championship meet, but I don't have that info memorized.
