Does Lydiard involve cutting off supplementary miles for the taper phase?
Would it hurt me to continue to put in 20 min runs in the morning easy on top of what I am doing until a day or two before the race?

I'd keep them as long as they are easy. Lydiards guys including Snell kept their hour jog in the morning, up to the day of the race from what I understand.
