I am 43 years old. I am Ethiopian and lived at altitude (9000ft) for the first 17 years of my life. I think I have some good genes based on longevity in my family and also have a cousin that has run a 2:12 marathon. I run very little at this time. I have ran a mile in 6:26 off of minimal training (20-25miles/wk) 10 years ago. 20 lbs overweight now. How fast can I expect to run a 5k/10k in a year and what training should I do to get there?
