I own this book and have picked it up and put it down many times. I've had trouble getting into Once a Runner too. I'm not exactly Joe book guy as I'm sure you can tell.

Do you have the Australian links?

I have a copy but intend to hang onto it. However I did see one last month at the town market. I will check this saturday if the "book lady" still has it. I will also look through the local 2d hand book stores. I would expect I could get one for $aus 5-10. If so would be happy to forward it on for postage costs. Sometimes it can take a while but these books always turn up cheap at 2d hand stores here in Aus.
I once picked up a Lydiard book with a an autographed personal message in it for a couple of dollars.
Eccentric coaches tend to say insane things sometimes, either to get attention, or to see if the interviewer/reporter they are talking to has any clue as to what is going on. Lydiard sometimes used to claim that Peter Snell ran 200 miles a week (bollocks, of course) and that running in dry heat was dangerous, but humid heat was just fine (also bollocks). Some things he was just wrong on, and some were pretty obviously either a) to make a point or b) in jest (Cerutty seems to have a habit of this).

Mopak,
I would love to have a copy, and pay you for costs.

I would have been proud to be George Washington's slave. Problably an easy life and you got to work for a cool guy. Hey, look at all the people who voted for Obama, they are his slaves, considering there ain't no jobs.
Buy the book immediately if you saw it at your local bookstore-- if not for this one reason---check the price that it is going for on amazon.com and you'll see what I mean.

Why all this talk of chauvanism?
